When we had went to Mass during Easter, the head priest was saying that while we can’t eat anything good on Lent, we could have cake after the church service.

The younger priest right after that said that if we messed up on Lent it wasn’t a big though…God understands…guess he read most of everyone’s faces :o

It seemed the older priest was a stickler ( no complaints) and the younger dude kinda contradicted him? ??

Is that normal in a church?

Thanks!

Emphasis is key, they didn’t really disagree, considering both still held what you should do. One simply emphasized the rule and the other the forgiveness. Kind of like don’t sin preaching vs you can confess. Not a license to ill, just emphasis.

That is not the official teaching of the Church. Lent is a penitential time. In any case, Lent ends at Easter.

Could you please cite where the Church says “we can’t eat anything good during Lent?” That’s a pretty sweeping statement that goes far beyond Friday abstinence.

Look, even Our Lady revealed to St. Lucia through a vision Popes and priests burning in hell. And I’m not sure if it was Our Lady of Fatima or Akita that revealed that there will come a time that we will see bishops against bishops. And that time is now. For how long? I guess until the second coming of Christ. A priest is still a man and human, they can err and sin and they aren’t perfect.

Form your conscience and act accordingly. If a priest tells you to jump the cliff if you love God, would you do it just because he said so? You aren’t under holy obedience.
