I think they need to understand that Purgatory is a STATE and NOT A PLACE.
If Purgatory is not a place, where does it occur? I agree that it is problematic to refer to “places” on the spiritual plane, but I do believe that Purgatory is a “place” in the same way as Heaven and hell.
Purgatory is De Fide–it must be believed if one is to be a Catholic and there is no salvation outside the Catholic Church

so bottom line: one way or another–in this life or the next–everyone who enters heaven will believe in Purgatory.
Jerry, I think you should research a bit more on “extra ecclesiam”…

Dear friends

Don’t worry too much about Purgatory
AIM for Heaven;
we might land ourselves in Purgatory

Aim for Purgatory
we might… land ourselves in you know where.

God Bless

Are you going to start a primer for those who live in Kentucky?😃

Only the Hoosiers will get that one!👍

It’s misleading to speak of time with respect to Purgatory. Purgatory is a state, the normal process of entering God’s presence in Heaven. Heaven exists in eternity, outside time. Time does not exist in eternity.

When people speak of suffering in Purgatory for such and such many days, they are really talking about “this is how much time it would have taken someone to do this sort of penance while alive on Earth”. It’s just a rough equivalent.

If I think about eternity very much, my head starts to hurt, so I will say no more.

Hi lak,

I don’t have a link. I heard him on one of his daily broadcasts. I listened to him on the Net and they only give the last 30 days for free listening.

Sorry,
Jacobaer

P.S. My wife’s Baptist brother-in-law said he beleives that when we see Jesus, we will see how holy He is, how sinful we are, and we will MOURN! I told him he believes in the basics of purgatory but he denied it.
