Happy Easter, All!
I just wanted to share my incredible happiness at the man the Lord has blessed me with.
A few weeks ago I ended up in an Urgent Care being told that I SHOULD be in the ER for my back spasms and leg pain. I ended up in a surgeon’s office being told that I needed surgery and was scheduled for Holy Thursday. They put me off work for two months and told me I wouldn’t be able to drive due to the painkillers.
SOOOO, my wonderful Fiancee, took the day off on Thursday and drove me to the hospital an hour away. He stayed with me every minute, not even leaving my side to get food even when my surgery was postponed two hours. He was in recovery when they dragged me back in and had no idea who I was from all the drugs. Eventually the staff decided to admit me because I was in such pain and so dizzy. He called in to work to be off on Friday. He stayed with me all night, making sure I got ice chips and water for my throat, which felt like I was strangling, and keeping me from tearing out my IV, and talking to me. He talked to the Therapist to find out how I could best recover, and he has been caring for me ever since. He said, “Im not leaving your side until we leave this hospital together.”
On Saturday night he and I were talking and I was feeling sad because Easter is such an important day for me and my family, and I told him that on Easter the boys in the family always give an orchid to the ladies for church, and every Easter the kids were given Peeps, (the sugar candy). When he came over after Mass, he walked in with two packs of Peeps and put them in front of me, and I burst into tears, so moved by his thoughtfulness. While I was reacting to that, he went outside and came in with TWO orchids - not one flower but two whole plants!!! Then he sat and told me all about Mass.
Despite the pain and spasms, it was a beautiful day and I am so glad God blessed me with this tender, caring man. We have only grown closer through this time.
