Hi,

Just wanted to know if I print “Nihil sine Deo” or “Joshua 1:9” on my football/soccer shoes would it be wrong? Would it be a sin? Or is it ok to print it?

What does it mean?

Not sure I’d play table tennis with the Bible 🤔

Joshua 1:9 i my favorite Bible verse & Nihil sine Deo is latin for Nothing without God.

Thank you, it’s a nice sentiment, true too.

But why do you want it on your football boots, that’s the key I think?

If it’s as a good luck charm to score more goals then that’s wrong.

I wouldn’t write anything of the kind on my boots.

Why not ask your priest what he thinks?

Coz I never do anything without God. I don’t play professional football/soccer but it has always been a big part of my life. And I always say my prayers before every match. I just want to print it as a reminder to never forget God.

With respect, if you say your prayers before the match but need reminding of God during the match that is a poor memory imho. If you’re reading your boots how will you play properly?

It is perfectly acceptable to wear clothing with religious sayings, Scripture citations, etc. on them.

I don’t have a problem with it, good luck with your football matches.

I don’t think its a problem. Tim Tebow painted John 3:16 under his eyes, and only quit because the league told him to stop.

It wasn’t seen as immoral or anything.

It’s fine unless there are other circumstances e.g your coach doesn’t allow your football shoes to have printings on it or the shoe company doesn’t allow it
