How old is he? Is he almost at retirement age? Please say “yes” PLEASE!!!

Well, let’s pray that he does retire soon! I read the article, and it is just terrible that there are bishops who do this. I don’t understand how the laity is supposed to interpret this kind of thing. I am raising three college age Catholic kids, and this sort of thing does not help those of us trying really hard to raise faithful Catholics. Why can’t these bishops stand up and state their own support of the Church’s teachings? This really upsets me. If our own bishops don’t support the Church, how in the world can we expect the laity to do so? This sends a terrible message.

Thirty-nine years ago Pope Paul VI issued the encyclycal Humanae Vitae. It was strongly opposed by many who wanted to live their sex life as they chose. Many priests and bishops went along with them, and Rome has seemed to appoint those who will.

Everyone was quite happy with the permissive bishops and priests until the bishops started applying the same rules to priests who wanted to live their sex lives as they chose. And of course the same rules apply to politicians who wish to conduct themselves as self-preservation re-election dictates.

Long ago, God promised to give us bad rulers if we ignored Him. I think He is making good on his promise. I think we need a lot of prayer, penance and obedience to get out of the mess we have made. Forty years if coming up.

I believe that the answer is that the times we live in are what is mentioned in Father Gobbi’s book To the Priests, Our Lady’s beloved Son’s. In it it refers to the apostasy of faith that is taking place throughout the church.

While his locutions aren’t Church approved they are however very widely accepted by thousands of Priests, Bishops and Cardinals.

I’ll take him back here in a straight-up trade for Cardinal George on the condition that he promises to keep his alma mater Quigley open. Chicago priest for Chicago priest sounds like a fair deal to me.
