Pro-Abortion Movies

There’s a movie that comes on regularly on the IFC channel called “The Story of Women” that is about an abortionist in France. I’ve only seen parts of it, but if there was an award for glorifying abortion, from what I’ve seen this movie would win (or lose, depending on how you look at it).

Also, in one of the House episodes, I remember House admitting that he believe abortion is murder, but he still believes in it. That’s a revealing look at what the pro-choice movement really thinks.

Someone else mentioned “If These Walls Could Talk” but I thought I’d post it again as I saw it the other night. It is blantantly pro-abortion, probably the most pro-abortion movie I’ve seen. And it definitely portrays pro-lifers in a very bad light. It also features many famous celebrities: Cher, Jada Pinkett Smith, Anne Heche, Demi Moore, etc: imdb.com/title/tt0116607/

Also the old teen movie “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”. Stacy (Jennifer Jason Leigh) has an abortion following a one night stand with a guy she likes. Her abortion is treated as pretty routine and acceptable. I believe the guy, the father of the child is only criticized for not helping pay for the abortion.

The movie “Juno” is not pro-abortion per se because she does end up having the child, but it does show another teenage girl who is pro-life protesting at an abortion clinic, and she is portrayed as being sort of crazy.

In the last week or so after the big story or Jamie Spears being a pregnant teen, I read an article that some woman was SO SAD that there wasn’t a movie or show that showed the “courageous” decision to abort. They were talking about a movie where the (middle class white ) teen was preparing to give her baby up for adoption. The complainer (must have been someone from PlannedParenthood or the like) went on about how the Spears girl and the girl in the movie were not poor yaddah yaddah. (My thought was OK so we kill the poor babies and why can’t a poor pregnant teen give a baby up for adoption.)

But I guess that it is true that despite the left leaning it is still hard to glorify abortion, I wish I could remember where I read this and who the woman complaining about not showing that courageous choice for death:mad:
The movie was Juno… I saw it, it was a superb movie.

It was not intended to be pro-life, it was instead intended to explore the theme of teen pregnancy, but as is the case with movies, it grew into representing the pro-life position in an odd way to the joy of the Writer(who desired to present a movie that “walked the line” between Pro-life and Pro-Choice, a movie that spoke to both sides). The movie glorifies the fact Juno has a choice over the child, but it also glorifies the fact that in the end she makes the Right Choice(for a reason that I found wonderful, she simply doesn’t like the Atmosphere of the abortion clinic, it doesn’t feel right and in her own words feels too much like a “dentistry”)… and keeps the baby. It was wonderfully somewhere inbetween because it desired to celebrate teen pregnancy. This was what the writer intended and skillfully achieved.

It’s not too pro-life preechy, and it’s certainly not really pro-choice. It’s like the movie says “It’s wonderful to have a choice, but that choice should be life”. It was a very humane movie.
