Well at least he’s not caving in as I had suspected he might.
I figure if bishops can give their imprimatur to renegade priests who run for political office espousing positions in opposition to Christian moral decency without censure from the Vatican, then how could the Pope be expected to uphold the faith under such intense pressure from Islamists?

Are you a catholic? What you are saying is so horrible I don’t think even the most extreme radical traditionalists on this board would just say something like that without backing it up. Why would the man who used to be Cardinal Ratzinger do what you are suggesting?

By the way thanks for the info on the misguided priest. Boy that guy is something…But I wouldn’t kick the Pope cause there is a crazy priest on the loose.

We have all been disappointed in humans…we are all sinners but the church is still standing after 2000 years and I would not get worried or disallusioned unless I learned without a doubt that Jesus Christ was just a pipe dream and** this is never going to happen  !**

Keep your eye on the ball :yup:.
Christ is still in the boat! It is His Church and it stands until His return.

I thought it violated canon law for a priest to hold elected office? Isn’t that what got the loony Jesuit-Sandinista priests defrocked in Nicaragua?

I also am under the impression that religious have at least been asked to remove themselves from political office. I can’t remember if it is law. There was a US senator who was a priest under JP II who removed himself under obedience.

Hopefully that will help at least remove the connection between the loony quebec priest and the Church.

He must be nuts to insist on being a priest and hold his values. Or he is WORKING FOR THE OTHER SIDE?

And that is an interesting problem. There is a Canon against priests entering public office.

The local bishop gave him “permission”, but the bishop had no authority to grant such a ‘dispensation’ from Canon Law.

In all of this, you should realize that often times the reason why these certain “catholics” don’t leave the Church and still adopt heretical views is because they want to make a political statement. What they are saying is “there’s the good catholic, the bad catholic, and we’re all equal.” They’re implying that they are as good as the rest of us who actually follow and believe what the Church teaches, HOW UGLY. They’re in essance try to redifine what it means to be catholic, under their definition.

It is people like this “priest,” this scum, that the pope should excomunicate NOW. NOW PAPA, KICK THIS “PRIEST” OUT NOW!!!

At the rate of things, the pope may just have to excomunicate half of Canada! God forbide, but he should have some very choice words for the likes of those “bishops”, “priests” and “religious” who think there’re Catholic.

God may be allowing all this to happen to show the world what happens when things go a little to far in terms of moral decadence and apostacy.

In all of this I remain unshaken in my faith, for human beings may fall and become politically correct, but the Church, that divine institution, will never fall, thanks be to God!

If half of Canada deserves excommunication, they so be it; EXCOMMUNICATE THEM ALL!

As long as the church stands firm on the teachings of Christ.

As much as we would like to just cut them all off, there are the select few who are still loyal to the Chruch, somewhere in that Canadian junkyard country!

What the pope needs to do, or at least what I want him to do, is to mention those disadent catholics who have commited public sin, and to publicly excommunicate them. I mean mention them by name, and by official papal decree excommunicate them publicly. That way, the world will know that there is a line that will be enforced to the point of excommunication.

That is correct the only way to handle heretics is to excommunicate them, especially a priest who is looked on as a spiritual leader by his parish. If the cancer is not cut out it will infect the entire body. But this takes a strong Bishop of which there are very few.

Not to excommunicate folks like this is a terrible black eye for the church in the community. Looks like the Church thinks it is okey to disobey the laws of the Church. IMO, that is as scandelous as the people committing the acts, i.e. heresy.
