I hope not. Wouldn’t that be a vegetarian who eats chicken? ‘Pro-life’ from womb to tomb is isn’t a statement, its a standard.

There is no such thing!

One either agrees with ALL teachings of the church or one is NOT catholic.

The cafeteria is closed…if indeed it was ever open.

I’m pro-choice on education. I think any education funds should follow the student. Students and parents should get to decide what school they want to attend, not the government. But I don’t think that’s what you mean.

If you are baptised Catholic, you’ll always be considered a Catholic. So I’ve been told.(someone correct me on that if I’m wrong). If I’m right, then those that are pro-choice and baptised Catholics are still Catholics. 🤷

There may be some but they would be very few as this is a very orthodox site and so they generally don’t hang around.

Is there a particular reason for asking??

Peace
James

Yes indeed, and I’m glad we have a choice between the OF and the EF.

Oh wait, that probably isn’t what you meant. . .😃

While there might be some baptized and even (in their opinion anyway) devout practicing Catholics who have somehow been duped into believing that they can be ‘pro choice’ when it comes to abortion. . .any who do so are at best confused and at worst, if they actually believe this is consistent with Catholic teaching, in GRAVE, grave error.

There is simply no way in which a Catholic --in fact, there is really no way in which any human being of whatever ‘faith’–can morally embrace a ‘choice’ to end the life of an innocent unborn child.

The only possibility --and it is small enough to be only a fraction of cases --would be in cases such as those where somehow the child himself has not implanted in the uterus, but rather in the Fallopian tube or elsewhere. In such a case, there is absolutely no possibility for the child to continue growing in a pregnancy, and in order to keep the mother from dying as well, the place where the child has ‘implanted’ must be removed. The fact that the child dies during that procedure is an EFFECT from the procedure, not the ‘cause’, and thus, it is not a ‘choice’ to kill the child but rather to treat the mother and, by implication, the child, because most certainly if the mother dies and the child is not ‘mature’ enough to survive outside, the child would die as well.

But to say that a human being (the mother, and most often, the mother being DRIVEN to do so by the child’s father, or other ‘interested people’) should be able to choose to say, “I do not wish this child’ for WHATEVER REASON, therefore it must die”. . . is gravely sinful and evil.

Rape? A terrible action, but the CHILD did not rape the mother, and killing the child won’t ‘wipe out’ the rape. It will simply make the rape victim not only the victim of rape, but complicit in murdering her own child.

Incest? Same. Terrible action but the CHILD did not violate the woman.

What’s left? Poverty? Since when did a person have to have a certain amount of ‘money’ to be deemed ‘fit’ to raise a child? Since when did a CHILD become the SOLE DETERRENT to a person’s being able to ‘succeed’ or 'get out of poverty forever?"

Too many children already? Says whom? Again since when did a child HAVE to have x amount of attention and having ‘another child’ would ‘deprive’ the ‘already existing ones’ to their eternal detriment?

No, there is NO reason for a person to wish to choose the death of a child. No way for any person to deprive the ‘least among of us’ of the FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHT TO LIFE.

ABORTION IS A CIVIL RIGHTS ISSUE.

Pro-choice, accepting that people have a “legal right”, is not necessarily the same thing as accepting that people have a moral right.

It seems to me that you can be both pro-choice and pro-life, if one understands accepts the reason why abortion is not illegal.

Are there any pro-choice Catholics on this site?
I wonder if there are any, and if they will own up.

A “pro-choice” Catholic is the most pitiable of creatures, for he/she cannot claim ignorance of the divinely-revealed teaching on abortion as, perhaps, others may be able to do. That places them in particularly hot water, as it were.

I was pro-abortion (let’s be honest here) when I was younger, for the most obvious of reasons - sex without consequences seemed like a wonderful god before which to bow down.

Yes, you are correct, they are still Catholic but separate themselves from the Sacraments.

Kind of like supporting a “legal right” to own slaves or send Jews off to ovens?

Thank you anp for the clarification. I myself was a non practicing Catholic, but would state to people at the time I was Catholic. Now that I’m a practicing Catholic, I make sure I state “practicing” so there is no confusion. 👍

Why should people have a “legal right” to kill unborn children, but not grown adults?

They are. We are Catholic (Christian) by the virtue of our baptism. For a Catholic to be pro choice in the sense of being pro abortion that doesn’t make them uncatholic (for lack of a better word). It simply means they are bad catholics.

Glad you are truly home!

Not so much one here, but on full display at DNC convention
I would have a hard time counting the ones on full display at the DNC convention as Catholic. To be Catholic and pro-choice is not really possable. :):gopray:
