Just thinking some more about this and some conversations I’ve had with friends over the years… A ramble ensues:

I hate to see any living being subjected to violence. But I have to admit, most of the people I know who are active in movements to protect wildlife are vehemently opposed to my own pro-life stance. I abhor violence. But why am I expected to care more about violence done to animals than to violence done to humans? Why am I expected to take action to stop the killing of animals while I’m expected to remain silent about the murder of babies?

Perhaps the answer lies in our formation. We have received our “education” through the media and not enough from our parents and our environment. Our environment has been contaminated.

When you have two working parents who takes care of the children? When children come home from school who is there to greet them? Do they make a snack and then switch on the TV? And who is there to monitor what they see?

Even if you do have a good environment at home, the children mix with other children who do not. There are pressures at school, bullying and bad influences.

What is lacking is community. Communities are essential for the whole family. There is sharing and a support structure. Life in cities is hectic and not conducive to good influences. The formation of our children is primordial. Even our own development is extremely important. We ourselves continue to grow and develop throughout our lives.

The Media has done us a huge disservice. The consumer society. Marketing - we are told what the Marketers feel is good for us. ETC. ETC. ETC.

Our children need to be taught about their Faith from an early age. They should know enough about the Faith in order to be able to defend it. There should be dialogue between all members of the family. At the diningroom table. Everywhere. Formation doesn’t stop when one leaves school or college - it is ongoing.

Remember Hans Christian Anderson and other “Fairy” stories? There was a problem there too. Hansel and Gretel - parents are poor so they abandon the children in the woods…My husband once showed me a story he had been reading the the children - the hero kills the king and queen and marries the princess!!!

A new generation, a new system, communities, formation, love.

So the answer Disciple96 is Formation, Formation, Formation:yup::yup: and love, love love: :love:

At the moment near the beginning of 2008, western civilization as we know it could be on the way out. We have so many catastrophic possibilities in the near future that mankind as a whole should be doing something about them but all we are doing is denying it.

In the background we have peak oil which should be the Number One concern for the future, but what are we doing. Just denying it and hoping it will go away. After watching the National Geographic program about cars in China, I came away with the conclusion they have no idea about peak oil. The manager of a car company was wanting to increase production into the future. I could understand if he was pumping out electric cars but all his ran on gas. Things like that don’t make sense when the world is running out of oil.

But our biggest problem is population. We are reproducing ourselves off the planet. And all our future catastrophes are basically tied to population. Peak oil, global warming and peak soil are all tied together with food production. But when all three come together at the same time we are in a spot of bother. And it looks like they are all converging, and the big problem is I will live to see it and I am 50.

Civilized man has survived for around 10,000 years and even with the future not looking too bright we will still survive but we will not be living off oil. I will just finish with another reference to National Geographic and this time their Africa series from a few years ago. The documentary followed the lives of 4 young people and they all lived without oil so there is hope for mankind still. Life started in Africa and it looks like it will continue in Africa.

*Pro-choicers keep justifying abortion by saying that the world cannot sustain its population. America and Europe certainly are not contributing to this.

Who are the people that are populating the world? Will their numbers eventually not enable them to overpower the world?

Does anyone have reliable “statistics”.

Answers anybody?

:confused::)*
There is no justification for killing a baby in the womb.
If pro-choicers are so worried about the population, they should stop fooling around or take birth-control.
Of course this is like ‘closing the barn door after the horse is out.’ 🙂
Abstinence is the best choice, but that takes will-power on both people involved.
No easy answers. pray about it.

That’s right, it’s a lie foisted upon unsuspecting people by the one who was a liar from the beginning and the father of lies.

And there is never ever never ever never ever never ever NEVER EVER any justification whatsoever on this planet or any other in this universe or any other for the destroying and killing and taking the life of an innocent harmless defenseless unarmed baby who is incapable of harboring ill will or having bad intentions or forming plots and plans to inconvenience anyone who is bigger, stronger, but not necessarily wiser who is capable of harm, carrying arms, harboring ill will, conceiving bad intentions, forming plots and plans to tear from the womb, rip apart, and destroy the life of a tiny baby.

MYTH? The Pope say’s differnt:) There are less and less being born every year! Do you know Why?

Global de-population is not a myth.

Global over-population is a myth.

That there are too many people in the world without proper resources, and that they are found in overwhelming numbers in certain war-torn countries, is not a myth.

That killing people is the way to solve the problem is a myth.

:)That is the point I was trying to make, I agree! Nancy Thank You

In this link the Pope discusses population IMPLOSION, essentially rejecting overpopulation.

There is one easy and correct answer to the question of overpopulation - it is a lie.
I think you thought I was replying to you when I said “it’s a myth.” But I was replying to the post I quoted above. Overpopulation, it’s a myth. It’s a lie.

Of course, I’m also using the word “myth” in a way that would drive Joseph Campbell crazy. But ya’ll know what I mean.
