I honestly thought at the end he would be like “I don’t want to die, you’re the reason why I want to live”. THAT would be romantic, however I can tell they avoided that because it is predictable

This movie used to be a book. There is a sequel about her struggling to cope with the death and trying to live her life, but I have not read it. I don’t think the author wrote it to brainwash people into accepting euthanasia, it’s just a pathetic story? Disappointed in the film though

Doesn’t sound like much of a romance. “I love you, but you’re not reason enough to keep living.”
Good point. Real love is sacrificing one’s self for the other and loving the other more than your self. He basically told her, “You’re not good enough.” If that’s love, deal me out.

I am sick of pro-euthanasia anything, as my dad had ALS. Related to this; he died of medical malpractice.
My mother passed away of ALS complications a few years ago, I am so sorry to hear about your father. Technically my mother passed away from respiratory distress complicated by ALS.
It seems to be genetic from the paternal side. I was nine years old. What bothers me (and this is kind of what happened with that dude in Japan), is that right now, the argument is that it should be voluntary, well, some people, think that severely disabled people should have the obligation to do it. That bothers me. Especially since I know I can end up that way.
When my mother was being treated, they were fairly confident it was not genetic. No one in our family has ever had it before, I hope it is not genetic.

With regard to the OP, I couldn’t even stand seeing commercials for the movie, after finding out what it was about.
