Pro-Life Abortion Options?

I was on the train today and saw one of those adverts that they have in most cities for “sexual health” clinics. I usually just roll my eyes when I see those, but this time I read it and was rather surprised at what I came across. In their list of service offerings, along with “STD prevention techniques” (who wants to bet that chastity isn’t one of them?), I noticed a rather awkwardly redundant phrase: “pro-choice abortion options”.

This made me stop and think. Why was it necessary to put the qualifier “pro-choice” in front of “abortion options”? Aren’t both terms mutually inclusive? Do they assume that the public believes in such a thing as “pro-life abortion options”? It’s certainly implied that they do, as the wording of the statement “pro-choice abortion options” necessarily presupposes other abortion options that are not pro-choice.

I pondered this peculiarity for a while, silently chiding the Philistine copywriters for their poor English diction. But then it hit me: could this strange circumlocution be intentional? Could this obviously pro-abortion organisation be trying to insinuate that abortions are so normal and acceptable that everyone, even those who are pro-life, allows it? That there’s a public pro-abortion consensus that differs only in degree - first trimester versus second, perhaps?

Maybe I’m thinking too much, as I’m often wont to do. On the other hand, some of the more radical pro-abortion groups are known to engage in complex sophistry when preaching their twisted message of death. Does anyone have any of their own experiences to share regarding abortion groups’ clever manipulation of language? Have you ever run into any one-on-one canvassers on the street, perhaps, that try and convince you of their beliefs? What sorts of distortions do they make?

I think it may have something to do with those pro-life groups who offer things like “abortion counseling” in order to talk women out of getting one. They’re specifying their abortion services as truly being abortion services, rather than counseling or urging other options.

Not saying abortion is right, just saying what I think the sign was trying to get across.

Good point. It still gets me that they don’t just come-out and say something more direct, like “abortions performed”. They’d avoid people like me thinking they’re being duplicitous. I don’t care for the misleading euphemisms. (Then again, the term “pro-choice” is a questionable euphemism for describing a viewpoint that is pro-abortion.)

Don’t worry, the thought never would have crossed my mind if you hadn’t explicitly said so.

Well, they’re trying to present it in a positive light. Most people are still uncomfortable with the word “abortion”, so putting “pro-choice” in front of it makes it look like an assertion of women’s rights rather than otherwise.

Think of it like this: “pain clinics” are popping up all over the country. Their purpose is to supply prescription pain medications to anyone who wants them. They often advertise what drugs are available - OxyContin, risperdol, etc. - but add taglines about how they’re all about relieving your pain, easing your suffering, and so on so they look like a Good Samaritan organization helping out those struggling with pain.

For example the twisting of the word -Love-:

For abortionists, Love is the result of bio- chemical reactions in the body.
That’s why they play around with pornography as well as with drugs, that influence their hormone- household. They are in a pleasure vice, which they don’t want to get out of, but rather go to the extreme. It’s like drunkenness. Abortion is the price for these sexual pleasures.

Pro- choice people are just the same, but they are not quite that aware of the consequences. Pro abortionists are aware of the consequences and even accept hellfire as the price for their sexual pleasures. In their drunkenness they just don’t care.

By putting Pro Choice in front of Abortion doesn’t make sense, because it leads to the same consequences as when it just says abortion options.
I would say, that they bite in their own tail by making people aware what they choose death, when pro- choice.

Pro- choice is the abortionists wisdom, but as well as their death sentence. These poor souls are drunk.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen (I make the sign of the cross)

Umm - some people think abortion is not killing a human being and that it is morally ok. It’s as simple as that. You don’t need all that speculation about their sex lives. They just disagree with you.
