Staten Island, NY (LifeNews.com) – A leading pro-life Catholic group is challenging pro-abortion politicians with new YouTube videos illustrating the two most common types of abortion methods. The videos are part of a campaign Priests for Life has started, called “Is This What You Mean?”

I’m not certain I like the idea of the priest taking off his collar.
Nor do I believe the mesage would be hurt leaving it on.

He is trying to portray an idea that I do not believe can exist. He cannot cease to be a priest.

Other then that…I think the videos are a great idea.

I don’t care if the collar is on or off. This message has got to get out to people, all people, so they can understand what they are truly doing/supporting/saying is just a choice.

Agreed. Collar on or off should not effect the message.
However, the act of removing it portrays something that is problematic at best.

How is this problematic. He expressed himself as priest and as man. I don’t know about you, but I see a double message.

How these doctors can do these terrible things after taking the Hippocratic oath is highly disturbing…

I think you misspelled the title of their oath. Theirs is the hypocrites oath.

The Hippocratic Oath is no longer the standard for graduating doctors. Most classes write their own oath nowadays and in most cases it does not speak to “first do no harm.”

I attended the Lift Jesus Higher Rally this past Saturday, in Toronto.

Father Pavone was the first speaker and spoke out agianst abortion. He mentioned his efforts at PriestsForLife and I am now thinking about attending the Pro-Life march in Ottawa in early May.

You’ve got to be kidding me, that is horrible. That is such a beautiful oath and the type of moral compass doctors *need *to follow lest they forget their purpose is to do good but obviously that’s too late.

I’ve never understood the hostile resistance to such videos or photographs. Many liberals oppose the war in Iraq. One way of bringing people to their side is to show real pictures of the suffering brought on by the war. The idea seems to be to make people who support the war graphically aware of its human cost. They are designed to show the reality of war, making it harder to lackadaisically latch on to a slogan like “This time, finish the job,” or “Freedom is on the march.”

These videos are simply the abortion equivalent. One way of bringing people to our side is to show real pictures of the suffering brought on by abortion. The idea seems to be to make people who support abortion graphically aware of its human cost. They are designed to show the reality of abortion, making it harder to lackadaisically latch on to a slogan like “choice” or “personal autonomy.”

Dramatic war footage might make one hesitate to hastily voice their support of it, just as dramatic abortion videos might make one hesitate to hastily voice their support of it. Whether or not you support legalized abortion, it seems that the more knowledge one has about an issue, the better one is able to make an informed decision.

The vocation that is the priesthood cannot be simply taken off.

It would be as though a married man were attempting to speak ‘as a bachelor’

I feel the message they are attempting to convey would come across much better without the act of removing the collar.

I can see your point. We would strongly feel this way as Catholic. May some in the pro choice abortion crowd detest anything Catholic and our priests, to that extent I hope it helped.

The video is amazingly effective without be graphically upsetting. It’s the first I’ve seen that I feel comfortable sending to some of my pro-abort aquaintances and family members. I am heartened to know it’s out there in cyberspace. Knowledge is power.
