I have always been pro lifeish I guess is how you would say it. I believe that it is a moral decision not a political one. I always said I was pro life but I didn’t want the government telling me what I could and could not do with my body etc. For fear that if we give an inch of control over our fertility, they will take a mile and soon we will be told how many kids we can have, and when to have them etc. Yesterday at Mass I picked up several pamphlets and I have to say I think I am becoming a political pro lifer.
I still worry that if we allow the government to prohibit abortion it could lead to back room abortions and countless deaths, but I am worried that by still giving goverment grants to Planned Parenthood and such, the government is allowing it to continue while then complaining about it later. Why give the $100 million dollars in grants and then try and go have Roe V Wade over turned? Stop giving them the money! I do worry about what could happen if the government was given control over our reproductive rights. What if they outlawed Non abortive BC? WHat if they said you can only have one kid per family etc? I am not ok with that and it makes me strugle with the pro life thing a lot. I am very pro life, morally I know that it is not ok, but I don’t know that I want to government having that control over our bodies.
How do we balance this issue. I mean moral over political? Is there any concern in the church that allowing the government that power could hurt later?
Enough rambling. TIA
