I understand hate crime laws intend to prevent crimes against discriminated persons. HOWEVER, because the government picks and chooses who these persons are in a piecemeal way, the laws are, by their nature, discriminatory.

That’s true of all criminal laws. They pick and choose what is a violation.

At this point, with the beginning of things like Catholics United for Marriage Equality, it is clear that Catholic Church is being more persecuted all the time.

Please don’t confuse criticism with persecution.

I am concerned that the government would be unable to define discrimination in a historically accurate way, rather than a desire to defend certain actions and philosophies, rather than the dignity of the person in question.

I don’t know of any philosophies, other than religions, which are covered by hate crime laws.

Hate crime laws augment, in favor of certain groups, not based on the offending actions, which makes their peicemeal nature different and more dangerous than other laws.

I did not intend that the criticism itself is persecution, but the intent, funded by Soros, is certainly done to divide and confuse. It may very well be a fact collection system to legally persecute the Church’s just freedom. Such as the attempt in some state to force the Church to turn its property over to the laity there.Also, there could be direct prosecution, but that threat seem currently remote.

Wha? Your citation of threats seems remote. I cannot see the state forcing the Church to do anything which is not related to lay matters.

If the self-identification of desiring gay sex is made equivalent to something like being black, then clearly we have seen the word discrimination redefined, based upon a gay philosophy, that is clearly being protected moreso than, say, reading the Bible, in some places.

Well, a hate crime could be launched against someone who is neither homosexual nor a racial minority but is perceived to be by an offender or against someone who befriends a person who is homosexual or part of a religious minority. So the ‘thought crime’ is on the criminal, not on the victim or the victim’s views. So ‘hate crimes’ do not punish or involve philosophies.

But all of that is a small point. No one should have a brick thrown through his or her window.
