Pro-Life Opposition Grows to Notre Dame Honoring Pro-Abortion Barack Obama

South Bend, IN – The invitation pro-abortion President Barack Obama has received to give the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame has prompted a national outrage in the pro-life Catholic community. The college is drawing fierce criticism for giving the staunch abortion advocate an honorary degree.

After LifeNews.com reported on the news, the switchboards at Notre Dame rang off the hook and eventually the volume of calls became too much to handle.

This is so sad. As a mother of 4, I can not with good conscience ever consider sending them to ND for college. I would rather them attend a secular college where they will at least expect their faith to be challenged than to attend a “Catholic” college where their faith should be strengthened and have them do this. Signed, and sent a letter, asking for whether or not they are doing as said, and to express disgust if so.

Unfortunately, most “Catholic” Universities are like most “Catholics” today.

Many of us only want to believe the fun things, ie love, etc… We are afraid to speak out in favor of the difficult things like the fact that abortion is always wrong!

There are some excellent Catholic Universities where your children could actually grow in their faith. Bishop D’Arsy, Bishop of South Bend/Ft. Wayne will not attend if the President is to give the commencement speech as of 8:30 last night and reported by an Indpls. T.V. News station.
 
Can I say that I am totally surprised by the behavior of this presumably Catholic University bestowing such honor on a President who is publicly in political support of Abortion ?
Not in the least. Satan could not have been more proud.
Here we have prominent constituents of this heralded university who are responsible for upholding and standing behind the (“moral precepts”) of the Catholic Church.
Seems obvious to me that their feet are on both sides of the fence.
(“Apocalypse Chap 3:16 How I wish you were cold or hot. But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold, nor hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of my mouth”.)
 
I was speaking with a close friend who happens to be protestant about this and how outraged I was about. She said she had already received emails (from other Christian groups) about it. This really makes Catholics look bad to the rest of Christian community. Man, it just infuriates me that any “Catholic” institution would think this is even remotely ok.
