The worst thing that happened with the Pro-Life movement is when people pushed it as a Christian movement. Thanks for the link!

People like Jewish columnist Nat Hentoff have been pro-life for years. He describes himself as a pro-life atheist Jewish liberal. He’s pretty much liberal on everything else, but the liberal press treats him as a non-entity for his pro-life stance.

As I pointed out on another thread, the atheist Chester dolan also is opposed to legalized abortion in his book Religion on Trial. It surely is the “common sense” of mankind (if that common sense hasn’t been twisted out of shape) that we do not kill our children, and we surely do not give the protection of the law to those who do.

Well I’m glad for the added pro-life voice at any rate… Dispite my reservations with some of the logic.

Once, I was an atheist. Even though I did not believe in God, I recognized the tiny chance that humanity itself had to come to be. I also recognized the even tinier chance that each individual comes to be. I saw the greatness of mankind’s potential in great works of art, music, literature, and architecture. I had a great respect for mankind, who, in this sense, has been the victor against the battle against nature- a battle in which all the odds were against him. Looking at things this way gave me a great respect for human life- and I believed that we do not have a right to terminate it, or to prevent it.
