ProVobis, that is accurate, never knew those things worked so well.

Why do you want to pray prayers, that were obviously written in English, in Latin? Do the kids in your youth group understand Latin? Why not teach them the Hail Mary or Our Father in Latin, use the pro-life prayer (or whatever pray you are using for the week’s topic) in English so that they fully understand and pray the prayer (not just parrot words they don’t understand) and conclude with the Latin Hail Mary or Our Father.

Actually it’s not, very weak on grammar, but it should get you started. I use it myself but have to tweak the grammar a little. Sometimes there’s a better word for what’s listed there as well.

If anyone knows of a better translator, I’d like to see it.

Why not? Maybe you may remember it better. It may make you think about the prayer and the meaning a little more. What is life? What is soul exactly? Etc.

Then again I’m sure there’s already a good pro-life prayer out there in Latin. Let me check around. I don’t see how it could hurt the kids. I learned some Latin prayers before I even started learning English.

Latin is considered a sacred language. As such, it has a certainly holy property.

Our exorcists have told us that prayer in Latin is more effective than prayer in other languages. I believe them.

So you are saying that prayers said in Latin are more effective, that God will answer Latin prayers before other languages?

That same old party line of the Latin bashers. Do you include body and rubric languages?

Latin makes the church catholic so that we all can understand one another without being national or political about it. Latin is also the language of the cross. (Along with Greek and Hebrew, of course.)

I think any pro-life prayer or any other type of public prayer should be one where Catholics of all nationalities can participate in, not just the English speaking crowd.

However, what I’ve stated is not to undermine the efforts of Protestants and those of other religions in the anti-abortion efforts.

I am saying that Latin language prayers are more efficacious. All prayer is effective. Answers are not timed.
