Umm, so what if he entered an abortion clinic? What is so wrong with that? 🤷 Anyway, I’m glad he was found innocent simply so that he didn’t have to face being labeled a criminal.

Under the Clinton administration, the Congress passed a law making it a federal crime to “obstruct” entrance to an abortion clinic.

There have been many innocent people charged with and/or convicted of a federal crime when abortion clinic workers claimed that the person obstructed access.

In this case, the jury found the priest to be credible when he insisted he did not obstruct access to the clinic.

In addition to the federal law, the FACE Act, the abortuaries are also private property so he could also be charged with trespassing under state law.s

Not only that, anti-abortion protesters were also able to be charged under RICO, which is primarily used for prosecuting the Capone and Lucky Luciano type crowd.

The Supreme Court settled that. RICO cannot be applied to pro-life protestors.

I knew they had struck that down, but still it galls me that pro-life protestors were once compared to organized crime members.

[sign]Weslin, 76, was arrested April 24, 2006, when he entered the Bellevue abortion clinic run by Dr. LeRoy Carhart[/sign]

Good for Father Weslin. I have read the testimony (available at the Priests for Life website) by Dr. LeRoy Carhart given in the District Court of Nebraska in April, 2004. Carhart boldly bragged about the uncommon skillful techniques he had developed practicing dismemberment abortions which are supposedly called “intact abortions”. It is mind boggling that anyone can confess to committing such brutal acts and not be hauled away immediately to spend the duration of his life in prison. Yet a courageous priest attempting to reason with employees and clients faced 18 months locked in a federal prison. What an upside down world!

In reference to giving Digoxin injections to stop the heart of the baby prior to 18 weeks Carhart said:
It takes much more talent…It was certainly harder for me ten years ago. It’s a skill that I have only learned by doing many, many, many of these procedures.
Defending the practice of removing the infant in as few passes as possible -for the safety of the mother- he bragged to Priscilla J. Smith, the attorney for the Law Center for Reproductive Rights:
Yes, ma’am. I can normally remove, virtually intact, as I said two, three pieces. I can often get up to the base of the skull then go back and remove the skull. I can often get both lower extremities, and divide somewhere at the upper part of the spinal cord, removing abdominal organs and even some thoracic organs on the very first removal.

I knew they had struck that down, but still it galls me that pro-life protestors were once compared to organized crime members.
Agreed. I would say this is a form of intimidation and persecution. That we have to risk imprisonment for making a public statement that killing the defenseless is wrong and pleading with people not to do so.

God bless Father Norman Weslin !
