It would seem that our countrymen on the “left” are sending us a sign.

They obviously didn’t respect the choice of decoration for the bus. 😦

Well people? What more do we need? What more will it take?

I see this is posted by Life news. * Not* CNN or FOX.

The Rockford Fire Department had not declared the incident to be arson until sometime today, which might be why none of the local news sources (neither newspaper, television nor radio) had previously reported on it.

After the determination of arson was made, the local newspaper did run a story on the incident.
Speculation was reported on an anti-abortion website that the fire may have been set as an anti-Catholic message or in retaliation against anti-abortion groups that campaigned to close the Northern Illinois Women’s Center in Rockford, which its owners closed earlier this year citing lack of support from the community, the political climate surrounding the abortion issue and the staffing challenges the clinic faced.
Bageanis said authorities may be able to determine why the fire was set if they can find who is responsible.
Rockford Fire Department investigator Mark Marinaro said there were no messages left at the scene and so far no evidence of a religious or political motivation.

Technically, it is true that “there is no physical evidence pointing to the motive of the arsonist.”

But was it not a prominently marked catholic school bus with pro-life messages all over it? Does the media wait for definitive proof about the motives of an arsonist who torches an abortion clinic or do they jump to conclusions? If they don’t, does that difference demonstrate a double standard on the part of those reporting the news?

Feel free to poke holes in my logic if there are any.

I think your criticism is valid. I was surprised by the statement, too.

But the Rockford Register-Star’s equivocation needs to be judged according to its own history of reporting about such issues. It isn’t fair to blame the newspaper for how other news outlets (mis)-handle such matters. I am not familiar with the newspaper, but know that Rockford has a long history of heated conflicts between pro and anti forces. This long history may have made the newspaper wary.

My brother in law lives in Belvidere, the next town over. He had heard nothing about it at all until I called him five minutes ago. Then again, he has a business to run, and his wife is a road warrior who stayed overnight in Chicago at our house last night.

Pro-Life School Bus Firebomed in Rockford, Illinois

Rockford, IL – Local pro-life advocates are upset that a pro-life school bus, run by a local Catholic Church, has been firebomed. They’re also disappointed the local media has done nothing on the incident.

I think we should all keep our heads on this.
don’t assume and keep open head on it. see where it goes and still request justice since this threatens our kids.

It’s sad to see that one side sees fit that violence and violent rhetoric are the only tactics they can use to debate their opponents. Let’s hope justice is delivered upon those arsonists.
