I’m embroidering “awareness” ribbons on clothing (shirts, jackets, sweat shirts, baby bibs) as a donation for our local pro-life group’s auction. They’re the sort you see for our troops, breast cancer etc. I’d like to put pro-life messages on them to bring attention to our unborn.

What would you like on such a ribbon? It needs to be short, two words, maybe three if they’re small.

I have the obvious “Pro-Life” and “Stop Abortion” Can you think of any others?

I also need a color for the “ribbon.” Is there a pro-life color? Our pro-life group seems to use green a lot, but I don’t think this is an official color. I was thinking red, but I don’t want to get confused with another cause. Pink is breast cancer…blue??

Any and all suggestions are welcomd!

I think I once came across on a web site that listed the different color’s for ribbons like you’re talking about. I can’t remember, now, where that was. Green should be perfectly acceptable. As for wording, how about “Protect the unborn.” 🤷

Blue sounds good. Or, how about purple ? Anywhere from the
lighter lavenders through the deeper purples ? 🙂

“LIFE : GOD’S GIFT”
Allowing that it’s OK, to mention God’s name, in it (?)

Not sure just how to word it, but something along the lines of “alive just not born” or “every child has the right to their birth”

Good luck!!

The link below gives WHITE as the Pro-Life color (which makes a lot of sense when you think about it). The list in the link is amazing. All of the colors and combinations seem to have been taken.

I think Pro Life is the best because it sounds more positive than Stop Abortion (this was actually debated as the Pro-Life movement was getting started) and I would do the letters in Gold.

I wonder who decides what color is “official” on the list? By the way, check out the bracelets that change colors for those who have multiple causes.

Thank you everyone!

Who knew there were that many ribbon causes? Wow!

I’m glad I asked about the colors, I had no idea it was official already. White does make sense

Here is a picture of what I’ll be adding to clothing:

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

The thread for the background of the ribbon will be white with yellow/gold wording. I may change the border to black or brown, depending upon the color of the jacket or shirt. I want to make sure the ribbon will “pop.”

Please say a prayer for this to be successful!

Thank you again!!

I saw a photo of a baby t-shirt (maybe most of you saw it also) saying something like “Now that I’m out, I am pro-choice”. I think it describes pro-choicers very well: do what you want as long as you don’t touch ME.

The pro-abortion mentality is: “Others are a disposable inconvenience, I am not a disposable inconvenience”.

And what about end of life issues? If abortion is legal, how about assisted suicide or euthenasia (sp?). In at least one country that’s common. Here, we have Hospices. But that doesn’t mean we are free and clear on those issues. Think Terry Schivo (at least, I think that was her name.). Someone else decided how long she could live.

Have you considered incorporating a rose into the design? My parents have rose stickers in their wallets from pro-life causes.
(I know it would be difficult to embroider, but maybe a patch?)

My pro-life magnet on my car is blue and pink with tiny baby feet and “Choose Life”. I’ve always seen baby blue and pink, but that doesn’t mean it’s the “official” color. White does make sense though.

I love the design of your ribbon! I crochet and would love to come up with some pro-life items for my parish (I’m the pro-life committee chairperson and haven’t been able to come up with anything concrete).

Ooh, a rose on the other side of the ribbon! I was thinking of tiny feet, but I like the rose idea better. I’ll work on that!

I like the idea of a “pray the rosary” ribbon. That is excellent for any social problem!

I think I may come up with a line of pro-life baby bibs & blankets. Something along the line of “If you think I’m cute, thank my mom for being pro-life,” or “My mom Chose Life.” etc. Any ideas for these would be welcomed as well!

Thank you again!
