K I have a friend who is 18 and on the pill. I tld her what I think of it and what it does. I can’t say anything else. She is the best and most supportive friend I’ve ever had and I want to be that for her too. But every day I see her from 11 am-about 8 pm and I think I could get a lot more done and have a lot more peace of mind if I didn’t. But I wouldn’t just leave her and I can’t hurt her feelings by saying this. She is not the friend I’m looking for. I am concerned about her choices and I’ve told her but it is none of my business. I feel bad coz I don’t think I’m being a very supportive friend and I’m not interested in being with her so much…ehm what should I do? 😦

I once had a very close friend who refused to leave an abusive boyfriend. She seemed to ignore my advice and never retracted her thought. There were some nights where I was so exhausted by it that, while speaking to her on the phone, I really wanted to hang up. I found out later that, in fact, most of her friends had left her because of it, and I was the only friend she had left.

Think to yourself why you dislike their company, or their help. Is it because they make the same mistakes? Is it because they sometimes don’t listen?

Then think to yourself…how does God feel about you? How many times do you sin? How many times do you make the same mistake then pray for forgiveness? How many times does this dog return to his vomit? How many times do you not listen to God’s advice?

You will see your relationship in a far greater light. When you strive to be merciful as your Father in Heaven is merciful, then you realize the power of God’s love for you 🙂

I am twenty, and also have a friend that is my age and on the pill. She knows what I believe, and I know what she believes. Regardless, we are best friends and are always there for eachother. Being friends with someone doesn’t mean that you have to beleive in what they believe in. It is about respect and compainionship. We have been best friends since high school, and respect eachothers desisions, and are always honest about what we think. When I do something she doesn’t agree with she tells me, and likewise, when she does something I dont agree with, I tell her.

How about when it’s your own SISTER!?! 😦

It’s devastating… heart breaking… disappointing… but I still LOVE HER! :o
Pray for your friend. She probably needs YOU more than you need her. Stay in her life and be an example to her. Be open to her and willing to be there whenever she needs you. Abandoning her would not be in anyone’s best interest. LOVE her… as hard as that is.

Ask her if she would be willing to attempt a natural form of birth control that will delay pregnancy without the side effects of the pill.

Remind her the pill is a drug and all drugs have side effects. The pill can interact with other drugs she may be taking causing the pill to loose it’s effectiveness, or possibly causing a seperate set of side effects.

Although most people don’t experience major problems when taking the pill most people experience at least one of the following while taking the pill: Irregular bleeding, weight fluctuations, fluctuations in sexual drive, depression, leukorrea (increased vaginal secretions), mastalgia (breast tenderness), acne, nausea, vomiting, high blood pressure, melasma (facial skin discoloration), sensitivity to smells.

NFP is all natural, therefore none of those side effects and the cost is very comparable to the pill.

If she agrees take her to an NFP introduction.

Because these methods are focused on the overall health of the woman not just birth control methods, most NFP centers are open to teaching this method to everyone.

While I fully believe that the pill is destructive to the female body - it is just a symptom of an underlying problem. Chastity is about sexuality in the proper context - a more beautiful and complete context (not about celibacy). I like theology of the body. Would she be willing to read something like that?
