I just wanted to hear others’ thoughts on something I heard once from someone who was giving me advice. She said that I had a problem with sacrifice. I guess she meant to say that I thought too much about what others wanted from me.
While I see her point, I have a problem really understanding how a truly sincere sacrifice could be a problem. In other words, it’s not really a sacrifice if you are not doing it with a sincere intention. So maybe I was trying to gain others’ approval through acting the way they expected me too. But if you are making a sacrifice for the right reasons, you feel that it is what God is really calling you to do, then I wouldn’t think it was a problem.
I can’t go back and clarify what she said, it was at a retreat. Just wondering if anyone else had any thoughts. She said this in response to me bringing up the possibility of religious life.
