Problem

I went to Confession a few weeks ago. A few days later, I did some things that I think could’ve been mortal sins (I’m not sure how much control I had in these situations.) I want to go again, just to be sure, but my parents think I’m being too scrupulous and won’t take me. I’ve been praying 5 decades of the rosary a day, along with 7 Hail Mary’s for the Seven Sorrows a day. I know that when school starts up again, we’ll be able to have Confession, but should I wait that long?

If you had no, or even very little control, it cannot be a mortal sin. Your parents have a moral obligation to teach you right from wrong, and sometimes it hurts.

Going to confession “just to be safe” is not the proper attitude for the sacrament. I think I’m only a few years older than you, and I struggled with this attitude last year, just after I graduated from college. Some sins are merely a symptom of something else, be it loneliness, frustration, stress, etc.

You need to learn to trust God’s forgiveness for these sins you have little control over. During Mass, approach Communion with a sense of awe. Realize that the sacrament will forgive your venial sins. Prayer is not a mechanical action - Trust in God.

Trust will do far more to strengthen your relationship with God, and by extension, your tendency to sin, than merely running to the confessional at every blip in the road.

It is probably better to discuss this with the priest at your next opportunity than to seek answers here.

Two: Even if I think I have the talents to evaluate these things, God doesn’t agree. That is why He provides ordained priests. [Or as I tell my pastor, that is why he gets the big bucks. ]

No, you shouldn’t wait that long, but you need to stick to the “Commandments for the Scrupulous”, particularly, “if you are not absolutely sure that your sin was mortal, then it was not.” Keep to your normal confession schedule.
