Does anyone know where to purchase a processional cross that looks like the crucifix our beloved Pope JPII used to carry? Thank you.

Do you mean the bent one that Paul VI made fashionable?

We have one, but I don’t know where we got it. Probably one of the Liturgical supply houses Maybe Auton.

I like the bent cross because it emphasizes so much meaning. The weight causing the cross beam to bend.

What exactly does the bent cross mean? I did a search and have come up with some very scary statements. Is this a satanic symbol? I have never seen anyone else use or wear a crucifix that has a bend to it.

The Bent Cross Crucifix versus the Traditional Crucifix

http://www.theforbiddenknowledge.com/hardtruth/bent_cross.jpgPlease notice the Crucifix that Pope John Paul II is holding up to the people, at left. Study it closely, and you will realize that it is not a Traditional Crucifix, as we show below. Rather, this Crucifix is known as a “Bent Cross”. But, what does that mean? For the answer to that question, let us turn to a Roman Catholic author, Piers Compton, writing in his book, “The Broken Cross: Hidden Hand In the Vatican”, Channel Islands, Neville Spearman, 1981.

This Bent Crucifix is “… a sinister symbol, used by Satanists in the sixth century, that had been revived at the time of Vatican Two. This was a bent or broken cross, on which was displayed a repulsive and distorted figure of Christ, which the black magicians and sorcerers of the Middle Ages had made use of to represent the Biblical term ‘Mark of the Beast’. Yet, not only Paul VI, but his successors, the two John-Pauls, carried that object and held it up to be revered by crowds, who had not the slightest idea that it stood for anti-Christ.” (p. 72) On page 56 Compton prints a picture of the current Pope, John Paul II, holding this bent or broken cross, just as we have shown, at left.

Therefore, Pope John Paul II is telling all the occultists the world over that he is not a Traditional Pope, but a Pope that is committed to carrying out the role of World Religious Leader as called for in the New World Order Plan. Another Roman Catholic author, Malachi Martin, makes this same claim - that Pope John Paul II is committed to the New World Order Plan in his book, “The Keys To This Blood”.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, we have printed the Traditional Crucifix, to the right. As you can see, the cross here is not bent in any way, top or bottom. Further, the picture of Jesus Christ is a full figure without any kind of distortion or disfiguration! The Traditional Roman Catholic Crucifix is very, very different from the “Bent Cross”, above.

We Protestants have always objected to the Traditional Crucifix, because it holds Jesus Christ up to continual shame, which is forbidden in Hebrews 6:6. Indeed, this is the basis upon which we Protestants object to the entire Mass, but that is the subject of another article.

I had this same conversation with some anti-Catholic Fundamentalist.

They made the same claim and were unable to prove it.

I will present the same challenge to you. What 6th century documents state this? If the claim is made using archaeological evidence, where was this evidence uncovered at, and by what archaeologist?

This ‘satanic’ claim is anti-Catholic heresay with no basis in fact.

BD, by the way

The best those anti-Catholics could come up with on ‘bent cross’ was a reference to a Hindu symbol that is also sometimes used by Wiccans.

The Hindu term translates directly as ‘bent cross’ and is very much a pagan symbol; we commonly know it as the Swastika.

The Pope does not carry a Swastika.

You’ve once again linked us to a an Anti-Catholic site, as is your wont, Bulldog. Give it up, if you can’t give a simple answer to the OP’s simple question. Once again, you’re just stirring the turd. Oh, well, at least this time it was a Protestant site. That’s at least a little different.

All honesty I have never heard of this, I saw that he used a bent one and I wonder if the poster who started the thread knew something about this. I decided, and I never like to do a google on anything as all kinds of garbage comes up-but this intrigued me. Why would and is it actually true that since Vatican II only Popes Paul VI, JPI and JPII have used this bent crucifix and what does it actually symbolize?

Brendan

Not me saying this-I never heard of this being satanic nor do I believe a Pope could actually go there. But why is the cross actually bent? and why has it only been the post V2 popes who have carried it?

I am not accusing, I am curious about this. I didnt start this thread.

For two reasons,
  1. It’s an artistic representation of the weight of sin being born by Christ.
  2. It’s of a style characteristic of the Croizer used by Eastern Catholic Bishops (from well before Vatican II)
John Paul’s own mother was Byzantine Catholic and John Paul had a pious affinity for our Eastern Brothers.

I’ve always thought of the cross was a beautiful marriage of the East and the West, the Eastern Croizer with a Western Crucifix. A sign that the Pope was not just Patriarch of the West, but leader of both East and West.

I’ve never heard either of these explanations, either #1or #2. I do not believe #2 is plausible, as the same pastoral staff was used by Paul VI. I wasn’t aware that the Holy Father’s mother was Byzantine Catholic. That’s very interesting. I think the shape of the Crucifix is merely the artist’s interpretation. There is not stating that every Crucifix must look a certain way, or have such and such exact dimensions. Some historians actually do not believe that our Lord carried an entire Latin style cross, but rather the cross beam, which would have been heavy enough in itself for Someone Who had just been flogged. I’ve read the info. on this particular site and it’s still the same old anti-Catholic diatribe over non-existent papal plots and intrigues…I’m always waiting for someone to claim that it was HH Paul VI who was the accomplice on the grassy knoll near Dealy Plaza in Dallas. I apologize, Bulldog. I trust I don’t have to explain, however, why I might jump to a conclusion regarding something posted by you?

Jkirk

I to have never heard those explanations.

Either way I also think that it must be art-but I dont like any deviations from the standard cross, but the weight of our sins does sound like something I can believe in

God bless you

I’m brand new here but I would appreciate it greatly if you would no longer comment on any thread I might create in the future. I have read your comments here and on other threads and I don’t care for what I see.

I don’t come to these forums to see the obviously ANTI-Catholic garbage that you cut and pasted above, or the ignorant comments about the Mass that you have posted on other threads.

You obviously have not developed the ability to think in a critical manner based on your aformentioned comments (and choices in reading material.) I would therefore rather you not sludge-up my threads with your misinformation. Thank you.

Pariah Pirana: It was I who jumped the gun, not Bulldog. I rarely agree with him, but he seems to be truly asking for information in this instance. Do let’s cut him some slack, in honor of our beloved Holy Father’s passing, if for no other reason.

Excuse me…but who are you the next Pope?

Anti catholic? I am more Catholic than you will ever be.

I think you knew that there was something fishy about that cross and put the bait out there. I did a search and got hits like that one all over the place. You sure are a PIRANA! You eat up Catholics not in the Know!

If you really wanted to know where to get a cross like JPII I am sure there are better ways than put a post like that
.

I did a search and was suprised-but now that I see there are people like you who are so uncharitable I shall think otherwise

Ias the same pastoral staff was used by Paul VI.

Re: Bent Cross Crucifix?

"The crucifix used by the Holy Father is technically his crozier, the shepherd staff that is the most senior ecclesiastical insignia of the bishop and represents his pastoral authority. As bishops and the shepherds of the Universal Church, the popes have used the crozier, but ceased doing so in the 11th century. Traditionally, the crozier traces its origins back all the way to the Apostles, and it is known to have been used in the traditional form by bishops(with an ornamental crook) from the time of Pope Celestine I (r. 422-432.

Pope Paul instituted a change upon his election. Rather than use a traditional crozier – seen as a symbol of jurisdictional authority – the pontiff adopted what was termed a pastoral staff. The staff was designed by Italian artist Lello Scorzelli in the shape of a crucifix. The staff was retained by both Popes John Paul I and John Paul II. In 1990, a new, slightly re-designed staff was presented to the pontiff in honor of his birthday. This staff is still in use today…"
