The UK scientist whose doomsday predictions triggered a massive lockdown on both sides of the Atlantic has resigned his government advisory position, amid claims he broke the strict lockdown rules he pushed to meet his married lover.

Professor Neil Ferguson, an epidemiologist of Imperial College, London resigned from his role as a senior scientific advisor to the British government Tuesday evening. . . .

He became known as professor lockdown after his alarming data modelling predicted huge casualties for the populations of the United Kingdom and the United States unless they enacted severe curbs on individual freedoms to lock the nations down. The Wikipedia entry states " Avaaz , a U.S.-based nonprofit organization launched in January 2007, promotes global activism on issues such as climate change, human rights, animal rights, corruption, poverty, and conflict. The UK-based newspaper The Guardian considers it “the globe’s largest
and most powerful online activist network”
and one might wonder if she had any influence over Professor Lockdown`s suggestions in formulating policy at home and in the US.

London’s Metropolitan Police Service has confirmed it will take no further action over disgraced former government scientific adviser Neil Ferguson breaking the country’s lockdown laws by allowing his married mistress to visit his home, merely saying that his actions were “disappointing”.

The Imperial College epidemiologist’s modelling became the basis for the Johnson administration’s reaction to the Chinese coronavirus and resulted in the current lockdown measures. Professor Ferguson resigned on Tuesday night from his government role after it was revealed that he had allowed left-wing activist Antonia Staats to meet him at least twice at his London home, while she was isolating with her husband and children at a different residence.

Police have been criticised for their heavy-handed approach for enforcing the lockdown, with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) announcing this week that it would review every charge, conviction, and sentence brought about under the emergency legislation. While police made a late-night to Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage to tell him that he breached lockdown by travelling to Dover to report on the influx of illegal aliens, police have declined to investigate further into Mr Ferguson’s brazen flouting of the law to carry out his clandestine relationship.

Scotland Yard claimed that Mr Ferguson had “taken responsibility” for his “error of judgement”. . . .

UK police are on the hunt for a man who goes walking dressed as a 17th-century plague doctor, as official statistics reveal those fined for breaking lockdown measures to be more than 9,000, nearly triple the government’s earlier estimate.

While police admit that the person has committed no crimes, Norfolk Police has said that they want to “provide words of advice” to the walker, according to The Telegraph . . . .

. . . During the 17th-century, it was believed that the plague was passed through inhaling contaminated air and that the mask’s beak — stuffed with herbs, flowers, and perfumes — could purify the air and protect the wearer.

Norfolk Police’s threat to ‘have a word’ with a person going for a walk in a historic costume comes as official reports reveal more than 9,000 people in England and Wales had been fined for allegedly breaking the UK’s lockdown laws.

The National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC) released the figures on Thursday, revealing that “8,877 Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs) have been recorded by forces in England up to 27 April for breaches . . .

British police across the country have come under criticism for its heavy-handed approach to enforcing the lockdown, including pouring black dye into a lagoon to discourage people from swimming in it, using drones to scold dog walkers in the Peak District, and telling small shop owners to stop selling Easter eggs because they were not “essential”. . . .

. . . In one case, an officer from Lancashire Police threatened to “make something up” to arrest a motorist. The officer was later suspended from the force.

Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage said this month regarding the Coronavirus Police State: “I do not want to live under a house detention regime or for this country to be remoulded into a police state.”
