Dear Mr & Mrs Greyhawk
Remember Afghanistan? The country which just had its first democratic election and whose reconstruction is making a steady progress?

The media doesn’t.

However, here’s the last four weeks’ worth of good news from Afghanistan:

Thanks for spreading the good news.

There are a few minor differnces between the intervention in Afganistan and that in Iraq. We had a definite purpose for going in which apparently came from reliable intel. We had our allies pretty much with us. We were responding to an attack and not doing this so-called pre-emptive thing. Afganistan goes well because it was done right. Perhaps we don’t hear much about it anymore because that isn’t where we and the indigenous population are bleeding to death. We had a real enemy there. In Iraq we seem to have created a bigger one than the one we removed from power. Defend the war in Iraq till the cows come home and it won’t change the facts that we screwed up big time, by being in such a jerk to get the war started.

Do you have any idea how many allies we now have in Afganistan? How many we had when we went in?

What I find sad is that you hardly ever hear about Afghanistan on the news. For some reason Good News is not news!
