Last night on TV, I heard a VERY popular evangilist on TV (Houston,Tx) talk about how God wants us all to be together. (all meaning all denominations); but he referred to God as a progressive God and that he has changed with the times. What does he mean? I could not watch anymore because it doesnt sound like the God I believe.

It means you should be watching **Catholic **programming and not watching televangelists who preach heretical teachings.

You are correct. He is not talking about the God that Catholic church follows.
He is talking about something else entirely. Likely some feel good nothing theology that is very popular but ultimately wrong.

Well then, God is a practicing homosexual with a drug addiction who is o.k. with women aborting His children.

The activity whereby the system of nature is produced is of a higher order than the activity
of movement or change. The originating Cause of being cannot have the same limited type of activity as it gives to its products. Their changeful mode of activity depends upon influence from without, but there is nothing which can change or move the First Cause, for no being other than that Cause exists on the plane of subsistent being. Nor could that Cause move or change itself, for no being, whether finite or infinite, alone can cause limitation, change, or movement in itself. It follows that the activity of this Cause is not any form of change or movement. The causal activity superior to all change must therefore be ever present in, and identical with, the very nature of the First Cause. The causation of the universe must thus represent a permanent and changeless natural activity of God as distinct from a transient or departmental change of state. The first change in matter, as well as all subsequent changes, is therefore caused by a being which itself is changeless. Movement ultimately owes its origin to a Prime Mover, himself unmoved, whom we call God.

God cannot ‘change with the times’ because God is outside of ‘our time’, as thoroughly noted above by Tomster. So if someone is preaching falsehoods, you have to look at their motivations, and it is sometimes obviou$ for televangeli$t$…

**"God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you’. . . this is my name for ever, and thus I am to be remembered throughout all generations.” (Ex 3:13-15) (CCC 205).

God never changes, we grow & learn the Truth all throughout our lives.**

Sancta Maria, Mater Dei, Ora Pro Nobis Peccatoribus!

Just as an FYI; I was just going through TV stations and happened to catch what He was saying because this person is very popular here in houston. What caught my attention were the dozens of people in the audience in agreement with him. Seriously, it reminded me of a political rally. As Catholics, and even those who are looking for God; we need to keep our eyes opened to what is going on in this country. Christians are being critized on our beliefs that are not in tune with secularism… Be aware, that’s all I’m saying

I wouldn’t read too much into head nods from the crowd.

These people spend years learning how to play a crowd.
A head nod here and there looks good to the camera, but probably does not mean much else.

Since God is in every place at every time, always was, always is and always will be, He cannot change. God’s existence is all the time and every place. To say God has changed is to say that God is bound by time and space, as we are. God cannot change.

Besides all that, “change” insinuates imperfection. Something that is perfect has no need of change.
