Hi,

My name is Nicole and in the next 2 months me and one of my best friends (Gaston) will be giving a Pro-Life/Chastity talk together on a retreat for about 50 kids.

I’m not exactly sure what I am asking here. I do know a great deal on the issues regarding abortion and the need to remain chaste until and even through marriage.

So I guess what I am getting at is, can yall give some solid facts regarding abortion. Like reasons why the Catholic Church is against it, things they don’t tell you when you go to the clinic, possible testimonies if anyone wants to share, the effects that having an abortion will have on the mother and a lot of the time on the father and surrounding family members as well.

Thanks a million, we could use all of the extra help we can get. I’ll be 16 and he’ll be 17, so its always nice to have other people backing up things that you have to say.!!!👍
 
Go to the Silent No More/ Operation Outcry site for testimonies; there are thousands. The CA home site has info on the Church’s position on abortion. And search the web for info from the new (2008) 4D ultrasound. Between it and fetal PET scans and premies and intrauterine corrective surgery and so much new research we know that chidlren are social and aware of others at ages when it was once thought they didn’t even move. They have nerve cells and organ tissues at just a couple of days afer conception and they swim at four weeks. Don’t take my word for it. Get info from all the sites you can and compile it; make handouts and flyers.👍
 
Go to leaderu.com. It’s a great site. I used in an anti-abortion opinion piece I did for my university’s newspaper.
 
The terms “Pro Life” and “Pro Choice” both have positive connotations. I prefer to use the words Anti-Life and Anti-Choice, that way the opposing side can be more effectively demonised.

These all look like great sites to get you started on formulating pro-life arguments!

One argument I hear quite a bit is that if the United States were to make abortion illegal, then the number of women dying or becoming seriously injured due to back alley abortions would skyrocket. This is a tricky argument, but I spoke with a young man I know studying to be a Jesuit who gave me a great response to this argument that I’d like to share:

Years ago, Poland declared abortion to be legal, and while the number of abortions overall increased, so did the number of back alley abortions. When Poland decided to make abortion illegal, guess what happened to the number of back alley abortions? They dropped dramatically.

Also, in the United States, the number of back alley abortions went up when abortion was made legal in the 1970s. If in Poland the number of back alley abortions decreased with abortion being made illegal, then a similar situation should be seen in the United States given a similar situation and law coming into place.
 
Check out the online video “The Silent Scream” by Dr Bernard Nathanson. This was a video of an abortion at 11 weeks that the doctor made while his physician friend did the abortion. Later he showed the video to his friend, who at that point stopped doing abortions completely.
Dr Nathanson’s book, “Confession of an
Ex-Abortionist,” explains how he totally made up the statistics about back-alley abortions, and many other issues, to get support for his abortion agenda. He later stopped doing abortions and after that converted to the Catholic church.
Nicole, it’s great what you and your friend are doing. You might mention one point to the kids: an abortion affects many more people than just the baby who is killed and the mother. My only grandchild was aborted, I only found out about it later. I still grieve for that baby that I will never know til heaven. And the baby’s mother will never have any idea how much sadness her choice has given me.
