I was raised and educated Catholic and believed for a spell. I am an atheist. What’s your point?

Why so defensive?

It’s a story about an atheist blogger who converts to Catholicism. That is all. Not making a point.

Sorry in advance if this is a duplicate post, here is a link:

Apparently one of the atheist bloggers from the CNN belief blogs recently converted to Catholicism. A friend of mine posted it on my facebook wall and wrote “one more point for your team, Justin.”

😃
Shalom CompSciGuy;

I always love to hear about people coming to faith in Yeshua from all walks of life, though atheists always hold a special place in my heart.

I used to be an agnostic with atheist leanings so it’s always a treat for me to see people of my former world view come to faith in a higher power, and specifically, Yeshua Ha Mashiach.

Thanks for the article.

Perhaps the point is to share a pleasant conversion story on a catholic forum, of a person who was an educated atheist, for a spell, and is now an educated catholic…👍

A quick note;

I admire her intellectual honesty on why she chose faith in G-d; that morality has no foundation outside of Him.

This was one of the things which led me to faith, seeing the futility of life, or following a moral code, if there is no law giver there to oversee and uphold the whole enterprise.

Thanks again.

The OP answered and I accept his answer as his reason. If he wanted to share the story for any other reason, then why post it on the Non-Catholic Religions Forum? After all people switch between religions all the time just as people switch from belief to non belief and from non belief to belief all the time. Thank goodness we aren’t punished in any way for the switch as happens in some parts of the world.

I didn’t mean to start a fire storm by asking what his point was.

Notself makes me ask a question. What is the meaning of an “educated Catholic”?

What do you mean by ALL people switch? I didn’t. 😃

Interesting stuff! Maybe her conversion will bring others into the Church as well!?

Duplicate post, this story ran back in June. Nice story, though. Her rationale was interesting to read…basically did her research and studied herself right into the Church.

I like the handle she used for herself back before her conversion of mind: “A geeky atheist picks fights with her Catholic boyfriend”. It makes me wonder – did her boyfriend have anything to do with her change of heart?

She hasn’t converted yet, she is in RCIA. Very interesting story and it is fascinating how it touches a nerve for many people.

Thanks for posting this up.

Welcome aboard the Barque of Peter, Miss Libresco! 👍
