Proof God exists?

Does anyone have proof God exists? I was a devout Catholic, but over the last week became an atheist. I really want to be a Catholic again. Can someone give me proof? I know about some miracles, but does anyone have something convincing?

Because for some reason, totally unmerited by us, He loves us.

Your sentence there confirms that He exists. So you are not an Atheist. You believe God exists, you are just not sure if you want to be His follower yet.

I recommend reading Lee Strobel’s book, “The Case for Christ.” Also “The Incorruptibles.” And there are some books on Eucharistic miracles, if you look on amazon.com, which are really impressive.

There are thousands of Catholic saints and almost all of them have amazing miracle stories surrounding them. If even one was true, God exists. There are countless more miracle stories that haven’t been officially investigated like many of those surrounding the saints have been. Threads here on CAF have been devoted to miracles or marvelous events people experience from God or, horribly, the Devil.

The Virgin Mary appeared at Siluva in Lithuania during the Protestant Reformation and converted the whole nation to Catholicism.

Around the same time period, she appeared at Guadaloupe in Mexico and converted that whole country!

There’s tons and tons of evidence, books and books of evidence, to sift through at your pleasure. In the meantime, for while you haven’t got the books, enjoy the links :).
 
The fact that the universe is so full of life forms and complex systems (none as beautiful as the human intellect) only make it less likely that all this was an accident. A most complicated, beautiful creation with no creator? A masterful piece of artwork with no artist? Doubtful at best.

Read the lives of the saints. Not only the miracles, but the love with which they lived, can not be based on the delusional belief in a God that does not exist. God is love, and His love is made manifest in the people who love Him.

I recommend C.S. Lewis’ “Mere Christianity”, a brilliant “proof of God” if you will. I also recommend you read a biography on Padre Pio.

As was said above, you have doubt and are not sure about following God, but I don’t believe you are an atheist. Doubt is a part of humanity, but I pray that you will move beyond it, like we all must, and I think you will. May the Holy Spirit, the source of full life and love, guide you back home. 🙂 I really hope you read what I suggested, I was a self-proclaimed atheist, I know what it feels like to need the “arguments”, the “proof”. The answers are out there, please look. God will never give up on you, don’t give up on Him.

Yes. The more you read the saints, Richard, the more you’ll see how fantastically God has blessed the Church. There are thousands and thousands of saints, and all of them are magnificent proofs of the truth of the Catholic faith. If one doesn’t satisfy you, you can go on to the next, again and again. The biography of St. Padre Pio, as Cominghome suggested, is a great place to start.
 
The best proof and the one I think you are looking for is an answered prayer… but don’t put the Lord to the test. Pray for a greater faith. The Lord sometimes gives us weeks like these and we have to look back to the times where his presence was made known and he walked with us side by side. You are in my prayers.

Dear Richard… I would first suggest to you that the very fact we’re here… the very fact that we’re alive is proof enough of God’s existence. Every breath we take is dependent not only on His existence… but His deep, personal love for each, individual one of us.
