Proof of God

If one has an open mind, a humble spirit, a sensitive and receptive heart, the proof is everywhere.

If one choose to believe, all things point to God, and one can actually experience God. All believers do.

If one choose to doubt, then nothing points to God. Even if one sees a miracle in front of his very eyes, he will still not believe.

The proof is everywhere, our Lord Jesus is real and alive.
The choice is yours.
I heard this statement just the other night, " If one thinks beyone the furthest point that one can think, that is God". 👍 Peace.

First of all if God exists then a) he created you and gave you life b) he created a heck of a lot of other things as well - the world and everything in it for example.

Given that you’ve never created anything on remotely the same scale in your life, this fact alone makes him worthy of worship as a being far greater and more powerful than you.

As for proof beyond doubt that he exists - even the law isn’t so strict. It only demands proof beyond reasonable doubt. This is to allow for the fact that the human intellect and senses are puny at best and usually leave plenty of room for doubt even in the best of circumstances.

I wouldn’t rely on your own resources if I were you. Why not simply ask God to show you if he exists. He’s more than capable of that. Like I said, though, keep an open mind and heart rather than simply looking for intellectual proof.
So do you hear actual voices or see things that that the rest of us don’t see? The agnostic has an open mind. The theist has made up their minds without evidence.

Who is the rest of us? Maybe I see things too that you don’t want to see???:rolleyes:

Cute. That is of course the language that you must resort to. You completely dodged my question. Is this how you conduct yourself in real life? If we were face to face, would you obfuscate and try to be cute, or would you actually answer my questions honestly? And why do you take such a holier-than-thou attitude? What don’t I want to see? I assure you I want to see (i.e. “know” or be privy to) supernatural events and deities if they are there.

You said it, “I am cute”. But you didn’t answer my question. I thought maybe you have a following??
You were even sillier than I regarding the “voices”. And then, which comes first Faith, or evidence? I can’t teach you to SEE. That must come from God and from your willingness to have faith. 😉

Once you bring “faith” into the discussion, I guess it is over for me. Just remember that I have faith in only one less god than you. I assume you don’t believe in any of the hundreds of posited gods throughout history. I am less than 1% different than you in this regard. Now I’m being cute. Sorry I even tried to venture into the land of “let god into your heart”, “seek and you shall find” etc…

One less God than I?? That means zero, right? What would help you to have faith? God is not visible, only His works and love.🙂

I’ve been reading and reading and reading and I’ve found nothing on the internet that proves beyond doubt God exists or if He does is even worthy of my worship.
What proof do the people who believe in Him have?
Thanks 🙂
Faith in some power or being greater than myself. I know I didn’t create the world and everything in and on it. I read somewhere that if we were to look at a tree, just look at it with open eyes and heart we would understand the wonder of that tree. Who, or what made it? Certainly there are natural forces that created it and keep it alive, but who or what ordered those forces for this miracle to come to be? Have you ever felt lonely, abandoned? That is the best time to reach God.

The search for God, or gods throughout history only proves to me that humans are not God. We must have an emptiness, or a part of us missing to keep searching for fulfillment and trying to find it in God. I don’t know if we ever find that completeness here on Earth. There are times of doubt, times of emptiness in which we can only hope that someone is listening. And it is our salvation to have that hope. Without it we are lost. Without it we commit the greatest sin, despair. Despair means we don’t trust and not to trust means we don’t believe. Pray, even if you are sure you don’t believe.👍

Of course you believe in one less god than me - just like you believe in one more theory of relativity than did people who lived before Einstein. The quantity of belief matters not a bit, if you believe what is untrue or fail to believe in what is true.

And before you ask, no my belief in God is not based on rational scientific proof, neither is your belief that your husband/wife/child/best friend/pet dog loves you. 🤷

Neither is your belief that nothing is worth believing without scientific or rational proof, for that matter - since this belief in itself is not susceptible to such proof.

There is no proof of God, but there is strong scientific evidence in support.

I have searched a long time on the internet, and find that the Catholic Church has a near stranglehold on scientifically inexplicable, documented miracles.

And the criteria for claiming miracles is quite strict: here is a link to the 7 criteria required before the Church declares a miracle. Out of 7000 supposed claims in Lourdes, only 66 have been declared miracles:

These two articles show the level of medical scrutiny which miracles undergo. Many of the doctors in the process are not Catholic – they are Jewish, Muslim or atheist.

Next, here is something about Fatima. Note how even government newspapers reported the Miracle of the Sun, despite being anti-clerical. There were 70,000 witnesses.

Then, there are the Eucharistic miracles. These are said to happen when the priest himself doubts that the communion is the actual body and blood of Christ. When studied, scientists have found that the tissue is human, is completely fresh, and the blood type is always AB → the same blood type as found on the Shroud of Turin.

Finally, there are the Incorruptibles.

No other religion can claim such scientific evidence in support of its miracles.

:mad:
My life is my life to lead as I see fit without having to worry about what God thinks.
I do good deeds not because it’s the Christian way that God teaches; I do it because it’ll benefit the person I help. The warm glow I get is a bonus!..God doesn’t come into any of my decision making. I feel personally that makes me a “better” person for want of a better word, because I do it for the good of other people rather than the threat of going to hell. So would I rather God existed? I’d have to say no. It would take away the magic of life by thinking something supernatural was throwing good things in my direction. It would take away my sense of personal achievement because God would have made it happen. It would also make me angry that something supernatural made bad things happen to me and the people I know.
I have yet to read this whole Topic and do not have the time right now, but I did want to respond with some small (name removed by moderator)ut.

Love is ‘‘other consciousness’’, putting others above self. True love can only be unselfish. Pascal’s wager is IMO backwards, because it is selfish legalism. Therefore there is no proof of God because God wants it that way. If there were a proof, then all loving acts could be deemed selfish.

If one believes that God is Love;
. . . . . . . . . . that the only commandment is to Love others as self;
. . . . . . . . . . that whoever loves ‘‘the least of these’’ loves God; and,
. . . . . . . . . . that you ‘‘will know we are Christians by our love’’;
then (s)he might be deemed a Christian.

If you do as you say above, then IMO you are a Christian who has yet to ‘‘know’’ Christ.

Now, please explain, if you would, why it is you think that humans get that ‘‘warm glow’’ as ‘‘a bonus’’ for a loving act?

Do you see this rationale as being different from the ‘‘positive feedback’’ one gets from selfish acts such as eating. sex, winning, etc?

One of the simplest answers to this that is out there is existence itself. Think about it… Things exist, and therefore if they are to exist then something had to put them there.

Going even farther than that, we understand that everything in this universe serves a purpose: Space is a playing field for planets, planets shield the earth from 99% of meteors and asteroids. Plants, animals, air, people… Everything has a purpose, and also has been intelligently designed (Yeah, I said it).

Our existence is so complex, yet intelligently designed in a way that it screams out “CREATION.” The Big Bang theory is a waste of time b/c scientists want to propose that we just POOF and everything came to be… If that’s the case, then why aren’t ham and cheese sandwiches suddenly appearing out of nowhere?

I saw Pascal’s wager earlier on this thread. Pascal was a smart man… Any way you slice it, that’s some harsh reality for Atheists. They’ll try to say Pascal was crazy and yada yada yada, but it’s a reality: “It’s better to believe in a God that doesn’t exist, than to not believe in a God that does exist.”

The Big Bang theory is just that… A theory. Scientists don’t want to let God into the picture, so they chose to call it that… the Big Bang. Naturalism will rot your soul if you let it… as will liberals, and Darwinism.

As for me and my house… We will serve the Lord.👍
