St. Philomena has been a powerful little saint in our family, too. I was just about to say that I did not hear knocking when the big prayer was answered. But, I think I did.
When our first child was born, she was placed in the NICU for several issues. I was allowed to have an extra night’s stay (past the normal 96 hours for c/s) at the hospital b/c I lived far enough away to do so. On the next day, I had to leave the hospital without my DD. So as to be closer to the hospital, I went to my sister’s house and my parents were there to help take care of me.
My mom made me go take a nap in my sister’s room. All I can remember is crying inconsolably. Then I remembered reading Fr. O’Sullivan’s book about our dear saint. So, I asked her to intercede for us. I told her that if DD could come home the next day, we would name our next child after her. Not five minutes later, the phone rang. A few minutes after that, my mom knocked on the door to let me know that DH had called from the hospital with the good news.
BTW, our second DD is named Rose Philomena.

I do so love St. Philomena.

She has been one of our favorites since we first heard of her. We love her so much she is in our family’s personal litany of saints.
