Well, looking backwards over eight years of being a Catholic, I can say there have been times when just saying the Hours seemed like a chore and fruitless and I could only hope to get through those desert days.
One of my faults that I battle with that could take me backwards is my temper. I can blow my top on some days rather easily and well…I won’t get into that here. Suffice it to say folks fall little by little and before you know it you’re stuck in a quagmire.
The little devotions we learn and keep mean much more than just a daily practice. When push comes to shove, those little habits save us from much worse things then being late for work or tossing house chores in favor of a Rosary, or being late for baseball practice, etc…
One of the things that helped me was my habit of frequent Confession. I went even when I didn’t “feel” like it. I’ve seen some folks in my walk thus far who’ve totally thrown in the towel and left the Church kicking and screaming, etc… It really is sad, to say the least. I still pray for them. I ran into one woman I tried to help some time ago and she isn’t much better than the last time I saw her. She still thinks she can walk on both sides of the street and is very confused about things. She could really use some prayers. Her name is Ann.
Peace and all good,
