Hello everyone. I’ve recently (last year and a half) started to learn about my catholic faith and getting involved with my local Catholic Church. I am on team with a teens retreat next week. Some team members are wanting to have Eucharistic adoration on the retreat. The only place to have adoration would be an outside pavilion area. Team members have said we would place tarps around the pavilion to make it closed off as much as possible. My question is; what is a proper setting for Eucharistic adoration? Has the church made a statement on where it can and cannot be done? Can it be done on an odinary table or needs to be an alter? Can it only be done in a church/chapel (which is what I have been reading more of)? I feel we should have respect and reverence for the Eucharist and I feel like it would not be appropriate to have the Eucharist outdoors on a random table. If anyone can provide me any documents on church teaching about the proper setting for Eucharistic adoration I would greatly appreciate it. With all due respect I don’t want opinions I want church teaching. Thank you for the help. And God bless yall.

That is a good question and I have shared your concern on some occasions regarding the practice of some well meaning groups. You can research it here: vatican.va/roman_curia/congregations/ccdds/documents/rc_con_ccdds_doc_20040423_redemptionis-sacramentum_en.html#Chapter VI

Well, Mass can be celebrated on an ordinary table, so I don’t see why Adoration can’t be . Obviously, you would want to decorate/hide the table with a nice cloth.

The priest or Deacon who is facilitating this Adoration should know the answers and set it up for you , with the proper permissions and concerns addresses.
Who is going with you?
We have Adoration at a Chapel in the woods in Tiger Ga. They are set up for it, and have neighboring priests/pastors managing it year round for all the groups who come out to the Covecrest Retreat Center.

My daughter went to a retreat at that camp in Tiger Ga. It was run by a priest, chaperoned by four Dominican Sisters and approved by the Archbishop.

We did an outdoor Mass in celebration of the canonization of Popes JP2 and John23. Afterward there was a Eucharistic procession to a tent set up for adoration and a cantor sang while everyone grilled and shared food.

Yup. Cool place. The lifesized Stations of the Cross are amazing.
Our Confirmation retreat is there this year.

a neighboring parish to mine does a Eucharistic procession every fall to outside the local abortion facility as part of 40 Days for Life. They used a folding table covered with a cloth and underneath a tent (top covered only) when they get to the end of the procession and have a prayer service.
