Proper View on Invinceable Ignorance

If I am not mistaken there is the thing of Invinceable Ignorance which when a person through no falt of his own doesn’t know the Gospel (in it’s fullness) and therefore dosen’t have a chance to accept or deney it is saved. I know what person that told me not to mess with those that have this because if they hear and they don’t accept that you just doomed them to hell. What is the proper view on such a situation and if it differs from the Gentleman that I am talking to what would be some good scriptural referances to give him to change his mind on it? If that’s the case, why chance preaching and evangelizing at all?
Yet Christ himself gave the Church the great commission to go into the world making converts, baptising, etc.

Everyone outside of the Holy Catholic Church is on an indirect - and uncertain - path to God. Every living person has an obligation to convert to Christianity; every “Christian” the obligation to enter the Catholic Church.

Baptism of Desire, Invincible Ignorance and such, IMO, only come into play when one dies, having not accepted Christ or the Catholic Church. Yet there is no way to know who these are, only God knows. Personally, I suspect the percentage is not large.

Just because someone has not heard the gospel through no fault of their own does not get them a free pass to heaven. They could do all sorts of serious sins and go to hell unrepentant. I think knowing how much God loved the world and knowing about Jesus could turn their life around. People can be moved by the love God demonstrated.

This is my understanding-and I tend to be broad on this subject.

We all have God’s law written on our hearts. An unsaved person will be judged according to those laws. This explains how other faiths can have people who do wonderful, moral acts.

I think that we would be in sin ourselves if we didn’t try to help others into a more full union with God. Of course, one must understand that there are different methods of evangelizing. Sometimes simply being a good witness for your faith does more then your words.(Take the Amish, for example)

We want people to become Catholic Christians so that they can have the fullest relationship with Christ that is possible on this earth.

Plus, we don’t really know how God judges nonChristians, so to me, it is better to evangelize and not risk the person’s soul.

As a child I always hated the answer. “Because I said so.” But I think that this is the ultimate reason for evangelizing others. Because God said so.

But the Church does not say such people will be saved. It says they can be saved.

CCC 1260 “Since Christ died for all, and since all men are in fact called to one and the same destiny, which is divine, we must hold that the Holy Spirit offers to all the possibility of being made partakers, in a way known to God, of the Paschal mystery.” Every man who is ignorant of the Gospel of Christ and of his Church, but seeks the truth and does the will of God in accordance with his understanding of it, can be saved. It may be supposed that such persons would have desired Baptism explicitly if they had known its necessity.
