My priest blessed my brown scapular{ and me} using the formula enclosed by the carmelites. He did not use any holy water. Is this sufficient and do all the promises/privileges apply?
Holy Water is never necessary in any blessings, obviously other than those having to do with baptism, that I know of. My priest didn’t use any HW when he invested me into the scapular. I’ve never heard of that practice.
The booklet that came with some scapulars I purchased recently did have instructions for using Holy Water in the blessing. I doubt that the blessing without it would be in any way ‘less’ however. We happened to be filling our little bottle of home Holy Water the same day we asked the priest to bless the children’s scapulars so he used that. However, we’ve had many other sacrementals blessed without Holy Water.

Blessing the rosary is separate from being invested into it. For the sabbatine privilege to apply, I am thinking a properholy water} blessing w/ investiture is required…?
