When carrying the Host to invalids, I never know whether I should place the pyx in my purse or pocket.
I would feel better just holding it in my hands, but the necessity of opening doors, carrying car keys, makes it awkward.
Would it seem too ostentatious to string a ribbon in the loop and hang it around my neck? What do others do?

We have a leather case with a neck cord for our pyx. The case is worn with the Blessed Sacrament close to one’s heart.

A friend gave me a drawstring jewelry bag made of black velvet. I carry that inside a larger clutch in which I carry everything else I need. Prayer book, cross, etc.

This is the proper way to carry the pyx with the Eucharist inside, although most just stick Him in a pocket or purse.

In the early Church, deacons and acolytes brought the Eucharist to those who couldnt be present imediately after Mass. It was an extension of the celebration to include all of the community.

A burse to hold the pyx can be bought at most church supply stores for a pretty cheap price.👍

I remember such case from velvet, but in any way hanged over the heart of (on that time) the priest.

The Extraordinary Eucharistic ministers had to be instructed about that, taking the pix from her pant pocket is definitely inappropriate way

In a burse hung around your neck is the proper way. The burse can be put in your breast pocket or tucked inside your shirt.

Once, when my mother was in the hospital, I was appalled to see the priest pull a pyx out of his hip pocket. Another priest, in an order, found that the last person to use the car had left a pyx containing consecrated hosts in the glove compartment.

So many do it wrong, but remember that this is the precious thing you will ever hold, and treat it accordingly.

The initiative taken for the concern is very serious and need an attention of every one. This is the concern which exists in the society and needs to be eliminated from the society as soon as possible. I subscribe to Insider Score, and that is correct there has been scant insider buying. Insider Score’s market wide buying indicator tracks very closely my sentiment indicators.

Not ostentatious.

My Pyx came with a velvetine sack and a leather purse that has a cord to carry around a person’s neck.

I place the cord around my neck but place the purse inside my shirt. It make a bulge but that’s ok. If (and only if) someone should ask - I place my hand over the bulge and say, " I’m carrying the body of Christ".

That usually makes the other person realize that I can’t entertain conversation and that I must be on my way.

It’s not ostentatious at all - it’s mission focus…like St. Tarcisius.

Thanks for this info…I myself was not aware of it, although I have never taken the body of Christ out of Church to someone at home. If the occassion arises I will get a burse to carry the pix in…I bought a pix at the Catholic store in case I ever had to transport the Eucharist to a parishioner at home, but now I will get a burse to put it in.:o

Traditional it’s suppost to be in a burse.
and you go right from the church to the person who needs it.
then right back to the church if any is leftover.
God is with you and you should remember that above all.

p.s. the worse I have seen in it dumped in a backpack.
wow, when they pass on God will have a word with them.
