What is the application of the term “prophetic” to the church today? What is the awareness of the hermeneutical issues involved in bringing scriptural texts to bear on contemporary issues and what are some principles of interpretation?

I’m having a hard time understanding your questions, but I’ll give it s shot.
What is the application of the term “prophetic” to the church today?
The old Testament prophecied that a new Covenant would come into existence, and the teachings of the Church are the New Covenant. The Church is prophetic in the sence that it was prophecies to be, and now is.
What is the awareness of the hermeneutical issues involved in bringing scriptural texts to bear on contemporary issues and what are some principles of interpretation?
Firstly, the scriptures should be interpreted as they have been from the beginning. That’s the first principle. Then you simply apply the scriptures, as they have always been understood, to todays issues. For example “thou shalt not kill” has always been understood to mean that the innocent should not be killed. Therefore abortion, which is the killing of one who is innocent, is wrong. On the other hand, that scripture would not apply to the guilty - that is, those who have been found guilty by a lawful authority - and as such would not prevent a guilty person from being put to death for their crime.

If I misunderstood your questions, please ask again and try giving an example.
