Isaiah538

Guest
I wanted to give some proof of Jesus being the Messiah. See if your faith is not increased…

ISRAEL WAS SCATTERED FOR ACTING CORRUPTLY, as prophesied by Moses in Deuteronomy 4:25-27. This happened the last time in 70 AD, just a few years after Christ was given over to be crucified.

Now, some do not see the parallel between both Israel and the Messiah being cut off. If Israel can fulfill it’s destiny, and additional prophecies after a time, why not it’s Messiah?

In fact, it makes more sense that it should happen this way, especially given all the prophecies that anyone else would need to fulfill to truly be considered the Messiah by the world. And it would need to be the world and not only Israel according to scripture.

“Anointed One will be cut off and have nothing…” (Daniel 9:26).

“Thus He will sprinkle many nations…” (See Isaiah 52:13-15). As the High Priest sprinkled the animal blood on Israel for the remission of sins. God the Father goes one step further with the blood of the perfect sacrifice, God the Son. “…HE WAS CUT OFF OUT OF HE LAND OF THE LIVING FOR THE TRANSGRESSION OF MY PEOPLE, to whom the stroke was due.” This quote from Isaiah 53:8 further shows how it was not Israel dieing for itself, as some wrongly conclude. Israel was cut off from the land, Jesus was “cut off from the land of the living.” Also the obvious, one dies for the many.

There are those who believe the Messiah should have overthrown Israel’s oppressors in fulfillment of many prophecies. But Israel, and the world weren’t ready to be rescued fully, the heart being more important, as in Jeremiah 31:31-33, which teaches that THERE WOULD NEED TO BE A NEW COVENANT, ONE OF THE HEART. “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel… I will put My law within them and on their heart I will write it.”

And so Jesus says, “Unless a man is born from above he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Do you see what I mean?

Sorry but your post made no difference to my faith which is already strong.
Not quite sure what the point of your post is. All Christians already believe Jesus is the Messiah!

Thank you for sharing this with us. But yes, being Christians we do believe Jesus is the Messiah. Can you please tell us from which translation of the Bible your quotes are?🙂

Perhaps if you wanted to discuss this with those who do not believe in Christ, the non-Christian forum would be a better place.🙂

You would really enjoy reading the Church Fathers. They spend a lot of time pointing out the various ways the Old Testament testifies about Jesus.

The thing is, the transformation has already begun.

We were always made in the image and likeness of God, both body and soul. That was the cruelty of the serpent’s lie – he tempted Adam and Eve with what God fully meant to give them, and what they possessed already in more fullness than we do. The Fall made God’s image a little less obvious, but it didn’t take it away from us; nothing can.

God then took flesh and dwelt among us; therefore, all human bodies and souls are a little bit divine. Our glorified bodies and souls will be even more so.

Of course, none of that will do us any good if we don’t get on the stick here and start acting like we really believe we’re God’s children.

Eye has not seen and ear has not heard…

Peter spoke of our needing to be reminded. Do these things not build your faith? I find it powerful.

And yes I am telling unbelievers at several sites.

I can’t find my RSV right now, but I have many Bibles for study. I quote from The New American Standard Bible, and the New King James.

The scripturally predicted “new covenant” is further foretold in Isaiah 7:14, “Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.”

Now the meaning of the name “Immanuel” is “God with us.”, and the deeper meaning becomes clearer just a few passages later in 9:6 & 7, “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and uphold it with justice and righteousness from then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.”

He is certainly no mere man, but rather the bridge between God and man.

Another place where the Messiah is shown to be more than just a man is Micah 5:2, where the city and provence of Christ’s birthplace is predicted, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.”

Make no mistake, the Hebrew word used speaks of the disappearing point in time, here specifically eternity past. This can only be said of God, and He came here to be “with us.”

Jesus Himself offers this on His behalf, "What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He? They said to Him, “The son of David.” He said to them, “Then how does David in the Spirit call Him ‘Lord,’ saying, 'THE LORD SAID TO MY LORD, “SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I PUT YOUR ENEMIES BENEATH YOUR FEET” '? If David then calls Him ‘Lord,’ how is He his son?” (Matthew 22;42-45… Psalm 110:1)

In the natural, what king would call his son “my lord”? Simply put, the only way it works is if THE LORD becomes King David’s son, (or ancestor). And so we have the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

I know I’m moving fast and making a kind of sketch, as opposed to a full blown painting. But this is a message board, and I fully encourage everyone to study the matter in depth… and look for part 3.
