I have been blessed with a job offer requiring me to move out of state, and this caused my girlfriend of 2.5 years to say that we need to get engaged or break up. Now I am experiencing pressure from her and from my family to propose to her this week, because she is"good for me." Please say a prayer that I can do the right thing and follow God’s will.

Dear Jesus, please guide Ben to make the right decision in this situation and also please send Your Holy Spirit to enlighten his girlfriend, so neither of them says or does something they might regret later, either way. Please also send Your Holy Spirit to Ben’s family to get them to ease up on the pressure so Ben can make his decision without feeling forced. Please also help everyone involved to be calm and accepting of whatever the outcome is. In Jesus’ Name I humbly pray. Amen.

Question, Did you want to ask her before and are just feeling uncomfortable pressure from everyone? Sort of a “I was going to ask, but maybe at Christmas or in X months…”

Or have you been enjoying the dating time with your girlfriend and haven’t really wanted to or considered getting married? You’re not certain? No wrong answer here. This is discernment.

Consider asking a good saint to pray for you. I suggest St. Joseph. 🙂

PRAYER TO ST. CAMILLUS DE LELLIS

St. Camillus, the Lord has filled your heart with a firm love for God and a self-sacrificing love of neighbor. In fact, it was above all for the love of God that you spent your life in love and service of the poor, the sick and the dying. In our life, we know that love of God and love of neighbor are the principal commandments and yet often we live our life in selfishness. We ask you, St. Camillus, to intercede for us to the same God you love. Let our hearts be filled with that love that comes from God; and let our concern be always for God’s love and for service to our neighbors. I am definitely praying that God Blesses you and her and both your families. I pray that everyone involved keeps an open mind and that you are all Blessed with the virtues of patience, courage, and support
