From start to finish the process of ‘getting’ Crd Pell has just stunk. It played out like a witch hunt. Even one of the lead advocates for victims of clergy sex abuse in Ballarat (who himself an abuse victim, was for many years also the mayor of an adjoining district) expressed surprise that Pell was suddenly accused. He said he’d never heard an inkling of Pell being involved in all the years of scrutinising the Ballarat clergy, which was definitely unusual.

Yeah, I’ve felt the same way about all this. From the very beginning, something seemed fishy about all this. But I do try to hold my judgement until the whole thing is sorted out. I’m more and more confident that Cdl. Pell will win his appeal.
