Sorry, but that is just plain rude. Did you also support the anti-war protestors who interrupted Easter mass in Chicago?

Other means of protest are available, and are less self-indulgent.

Well he should have probably protested maybe after their Mass. But his point was that he, like allot of other young Christians, are sick of the false gospels, being preached by those liberals, He just couldn’t hold it in anymore!. It is because of Gene Robison that his church is crumbling before his eyes. Not sure if he is an evangelical or a traditional Anglican.

Just as a matter of interest, why is this in the Catholic News section??

Because I was in a hurry to go to work and I quick posted this news on the forum I was at before I left.👍

Sometimes the best form of protest is to just LEAVE! Collectivly all who still remain loyal to the teachings of Jesus Christ should stand and walk out. NO words/shouts need to happen.

I can sympathise with this young man’s anger, but I cannot approve of his approach.

I agree with you, Foggydawn. I also remember a post/video on here that someone interrupted a Catholic Mass and many of us non-Catholics thought it was terrible and did not support the behavior at all. This is a very sad post for me that people would actually would be supporting this behavior in my church on this forum.

Peace!

I think this protester picked the wrong venue to get his message across. What is even sadder is this congregation allowing Robinson to speak there in the first place

Unfortunately for them, these people are seeing that which they learned to believe, turned on its head by a change in church policies. So, I can understand their anger and frustration. Still, there isn’t a whole lot they are going to accomplish by this, and they’re just going to have to decide whether they wish to continue in this church or not.

It wasn’t so much the congregation as the rector and possibly the Bishop.

There is a church full of people there who took great delight in drowning out this young man. It is too bad they didn’t follow hm out the church en masse.

Just before Bishop Robinson was interrupted, he was saying: „…how sad and how discouraging that the Anglican Communion should be tearing itself apart because two men…“

What sort of homily was that?? He wasn‘t feeding his hosts’ flock on the Word of God. He wasn‘t equipping his hearers to stand firm in the face of the anti-Christian harrassment and in-your-face blasphemy that is becoming prevalent in most Western societies including the UK. He was just grinding his political axe. He was the one who was self-indulgent and disrespectful to the church service.

I am saddened for the Anglican church. My prayers go out for the Traditionalist, and a prayer for mercy for the liberals.

What is happening here, I thought when Peter spoke “no ordaining to the priesthood for woman” all of Christiendom listened. Where did these woman go, converted to the anglican church and infected the priesthood with new age idealism. What is next to follow? What a mess. Holy Mary Mother of God Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.

I think it was the homily that made the man so filled with outrage that he began to shout “repent”. I have a feeling he wasn’t planning this all along, but was maybe going to make his feelings known after the service when the bishop would be standing at the door to greet everyone. That’s just my feeling on this. I think he just felt so disgusted with the opening lines of the homily that he lost control a little and expressed his feelings early. It looks as though the homily was nixed though, which spared a whole congregation from being subjected to his false teachings.

Robinson continued with his speech about the homosexual controversy after the heckler was escorted out, so the congregation wasn’t spared it.

There is speculation in the blogosphere that this rough-looking biker guy was planted, pulled in off the street in order to put the opposition to Robinson in a bad light.

Unless those who say this have firm evidence, the fact that it would even enter a professing Christian’s mind to attribute such a wicked motive to his neighbor has got to be the worst of many shocking aspects of what happened.

That’s bad 😦 Maybe it’s no co-incidence that both Anglicans & Catholics have messed about with the liturgy; the resulting unsettlement may have contributed to cheapening the Liturgy, thereby lessening the respect which is due to acts of Christian worship, & to the places in which they occur.

Other means of protest are available, and are less self-indulgent.

You’ve hit the nail on the head 🙂 - this disgraceful behaviour is a form of self-indulgence, of egotism. There are times & places for criticising bishops, & in Church while they are preaching is not among them. This is the kind of oafishness that gains Christians a bad reputation with those who think differently from them. Those who wish to protest about something, should not do it during the Worship of God, no matter what the issue, or the strength of their feelings or convictions.

There are theological issues as well; the Church of England, like the RCC, made its own the teaching of St.Ambrose that the unworthiness of the minister does not hinder the efficacy of the sacraments; this realisation is expressed in one of the 39 Articles. It is because that is true, that bishops in the CC & a homosexual bishop in the Anglican Communion are not rendered incapable of performing valid sacramental acts by their way of life. So it is doctrinally ignorant - not orthodox - to suppose that a bishop’s moral character disqualifies him from being a minister of Christ’s sacraments.

If it is Christian behaviour to heckle an Anglican bishop, there is no reason to object when a Catholic bishop is treated in the same way.
