Hi Lisa
Do you mean unfounded accusations like exporter saying I believe OSAS? You are probably the most level headed person in here but let me ask you a question, does having a different opinion on something mean that you are giving someone a hard time?. Everything I have said in this forum comes from talking to other Catholics or things I have seen.
Dave.
Two days ago I was talking with a woman who said she was a Christian. As we got into conversation, I mentioned I had just gotten back from a youth conference with my kids and how refreshed I felt. She told me how she had just went to a conference put on by the great spiritualist, Sylvia Brown. You know the one that reads fortunes?

Just because someone claims to be Catholic, does not mean they understand who Christ is and what the teachings of the Catholic Church are. Just as that woman claimed to be a Christian but clearly does not understand that Christians should not be going to fortune tellers.

People here have been trying to explain what the **Official **teachings of the Catholic Church are. I do not think all the Christians who go to the same church as the woman above believe fortune telling is okay. Please stop judging us by Catholics who clearly did not know what a Catholic Christian is supposed to believe and start listening to the explainations many people have given.
God Bless,
Maria

He probably mistook you for one of the babtist;) You can see things and jump to false conclusions and when you get an answer from someone if you already have your mind made up you will not hear or comprehend anything that is explained or posted. That is where you are right now, it is frustrating for us because you want to believe these things regardless of what we say.Marineboy takes the same approach as alot of protestants and nondenoms that come in here and condemn folks,it is not pleasant. You hear Dave but you don’t understand.God Bless

Hi
All right, let say that I am wrong on the statue thing, why do you kneel in front of them? If you dont think that there is power in it, why kneel in front of it?
Dave.

Because you are about to say prayers. That is often the position when you pray.

Oudave you are taking the subject off topic with your questions.

 What’s this power thing all about? Never heard anything so ridiculous in my life/

As Jimmy said, it’s becase kneeling is a posture for prayer. Now, I’m sure you’re wondering why a Catholic be kneeling specifically in front of a statue? It’s because the statue helps us think about who we are praying to/with. A simple question…If you look at a picture of your wife, or kids, or mother, doesn’t that picture bring to mind the person it represents? Heck, on a cold winter day, a picture of Hawaii brings to mind how nice it would sitting on a beach under a palm tree. It’s the same thing for statues. Nothing more, nothing less. That’s the only “power” they have.

‘‘It’s because the statue helps us think’’

Hi
I couldn’t have said it any better.

Outside the Church there is no salvation
Quiz: which is it? John 14:6

a) Jesus answered, “The Catholic Church is the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through The Catholic Church.”

or

b) Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Some of the postings on this topic have reeked of Triumphalism which is a heresy.

When u think about Protestanism and other Religions you have to say that the truths of there religions are correct in so far as they agree with Catholisicm…Protestants have no truth apart form the Catholic church…i find it remarkable that just because the new catechism uses “nice” language towards Protestanism that many Catholics, including those on this forum, want to turn a blind eye to Protestanism as a heresy…** Protestanism has led many souls away from Christ and needs to be destroyed… Outside the Church there is no salvation absolutely applys to Protestants…** I also would like to remind u that someone has the morla obligation to seek out the truth…simply because a particular Protestant does not ““see”” that the Catholic church is the true Church doesnt mean he is invincibly ignorant…he may be culpible because he may shut his heart down and not want to see the truth… pat madrid, when he debated james white on sola scriptura, told the audience that they **run the risk of “goin to hell” **because they are not Catholics… pat madrid is one of the finest apologists today and i think we should learn form this example and **remind protestants that they may end up in hell **for rejecting Christ’s truths…
Wow…amazing. A man on a mission. So you know who all the heretics are…yes, Protestants…you can’t be serious… How do YOU as a mere mortal know who is going to hell and who isn’t? That is quite a blanket statement for a “human” to make. Oh, wait…I 've heard that before…yes, I believe that the radical Muslims believe the same as you do…only it’s the Christians who they believe should be wiped off the face of the earth…and yeah, boy-o, that includes Catholics. Your extreme views will not converts make. I find it truly amazing when radical extremists believe they have all the answers…you, sir are an extremist. I know Catholics on this board with whom I disagree with on basic issues, but am willing to bet that they will agree that you are NOT following Catholic teaching by advocating violence against those who are not Catholic.

Who do you think you are? If you want a country run by religion, then move to Iran. You are way off base here and are in need of some serious reflection.

What is the greatest commandment? Look it up, Jesus said, and I believe it, and that settles it. Love your Lord your God will all your heart, mind, body and soul…and love your neighbor as yourself…Love one another, as I have loved you.
