It seems that there are a significant number of Catholic apologists who are former Protestant ministers.
Cradle Catholics (like me) tend to be lazy and take their faith for granted. It seems as if Protestant converts are fully conversant in the faith and converted only after half of a lifetime of research.
I do realize that Catholic priests become Protestants and I have heard of some that have become ministers. When I asked the question in my first post, I wasn’t sure of the answer, but I suspected that former priests don’t seem to take on any sort of “prominence.” From my admittedly limited observations, it seems that they occasionally take their act on the road, but that they have the status of a player in a carnival side show. As a Catholic it seems sad.
I wonder why individuals break their vows. Though everyone’s situation is different, I wonder whether former priests become Protestants as a rationalization because they suddenly want to become married. As an outsider looking in, it seems that if former Catholic priests were on fire with the Holy Spirit, they would be more visible. Perhaps they are just going through the motions, because preaching is the only way they know how to make a living.
