Protestant Apologists

I don’t know if you are looking for people who are on the scene today, but it not, John Calvin and Martin Luther would be prime examples.

Listen, I don’t mean to be brash, but it seems like the Catholic answer to someone who disagrees with them is that the disagreement always 100% of the time comes out of ignorance. I think that this is an “end around” attempt to merely dismiss the opposition. Richard Bennett is a college educated ex Roman priest who graduated from a seminary the same way other priests do. How do you figure that he is ignorant of the Roman faith? He obviously knew it well enough to be an ordained Roman Catholic priest at one time.

Respectfully, I never said that Richard Bennett himself was ingnorant of the Catholic faith. He could undoubtedly “beat me hands down” in a debate. I’m not a Catholic apologist and I’m still learning the faith. What I said, or at least what I meant to say, was that the video itself presented a distorted view of the Catholic faith. I in no way intended to attack Richard Bennett personally. Obviously, I don’t know the man, so I have no way to assess his understanding of the faith.

Hello. I have a question for Protestants. I asked it on another thread but didn’t get a response.

Are there any Protestant apologists that you would consider “important” (influential) that are former Catholic priests or nuns?

Richard Bennett and Bart Brewer come to mind. My impression is that apologists play a much less visible and influential role among Protestants than do apologists among Catholics. Also, Protestant apologists tend to be associated with the stricter Evangelical or Reformed groups. I certainly couldn’t name a mainline Protestant apologist–former priest or otherwise. They might exist, but I’ve never heard of them.
