It seems strange to me that they have believed without a doubt that everything in the Bible is infallibly true 4X longer than I have even been alive, yet I probably know way more about it than they ever will (in this lifetime).

I think I will be checking out an RCIA program. Thank you for the kind words and your prayer

I’ll check it out. Thanks for the advice.
I was in the same situation when I was in an Evangelical Church many years ago, where I had some basic questions and found out that my “Pastor” was well intended but ignorant. I encourage you to read some Catholic theologians. Our Pope is an outstanding theologian, especially if you have questions regarding biblical exegesis.

As for attending RCIA, call your local Dioceses and ask that they refer you to a good parish. Thats what I did, and I absolutely love my Parish. God Bless you on your journey.

FAITH44,

I pray that your studies are going well and that your search and study of Christ Holy Catholic Church is bring you to a more complete understanding of the fullness of gods love for us.

My Dad was a convert to the Catholic church to marry my mother since their divorce he has become Southern Baptist. He ask my the other night about worship of Mary and the Saints and about purgatory. After I answered him he seemed to feel better about it but who knows.

I am one of 4 in my family that is still catholic so I get, i would not say anti exactly , but close to it all the time. It just seem that it makes me look for answers to their questions and reinforces my faith all the time. the mystery of the Lord and how he works.

We agree, it would be wrong to worship a statue, a pope, Mary, angels, saints, etc.
Just a minor point. Catholics believe in the real presence. Hence consecrated bread which is turned to body and blood of Christ by his word, is to be worshiped.

If Christ is really present he ought to be really worshiped. If you are rejecting real presence then Catholic worship of what looks like ordinary bread (wafer, cookie whatever) looks like worship of things that should not be worshiped (i.e idol worship).

And here comes the fundamental difference between true Church and fallen Christians. The charge that Catholics worship idols is a little deeper than misunderstanding.

This is why rejection of Eucharist is rejection of God, rejection of gift of salvation and faith. It is serious matter. In the words of Christ himself which Protestants simply refuse to understand:

“{6:53}
Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his
blood, ye have no life in you. {6:54} Whoso eateth my
flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will
raise him up at the last day. {6:55} For my flesh is meat
indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. {6:56} He that eateth
my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in
him.”

“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35

Just remember that whatever others may say or do to always show Christ’s love in return, especially to those who need it most and - if we are to take Jesus’ words at face value - to other Christians. Definitely look into RCIA. I went through it myself a couple years back. By the time I got around to signing up, I had already made up my mind from my own independent research that the Roman Catholic Church was Christ’s true Church, but it was still a great chance to learn even more. Above all else, PRAY. Grace and peace…

faith44…It sounds as though the Holy Spirit has been very much involved in your life…and that is wonderful!!

If you stop to think about some things…it may help you understand the whys and hows of the people who seem to capitalize on their antagonisms and diatribes against the Catholic Church…

First, consider that it is virtually impossible to find any Catholic website that is antagonistic to a non-Catholic religion or faith. They simply don’t exist. Yes, there are apologetics sites…but take note of the language and kindness that is shown on those sites. There is a significant difference between us and they.

Catholics believe “ALL” of the Bible, not just selected portions. The Catholic Church has stood for over 2000 years, and is still pre-eminent worldwide.

I guess…what I’m trying to say is… Bashing and attacking others to “justify” our beliefs…is just not our way. Just as we do not field corps of missionaries to bang on doors to try and convince people to join our Church. We believe that people are led to the Church by the Holy Spirit…

Catholics are not of the mind to “condemn” others. We do not believe that we are “privileged to judge” others… Afterall, did not Christ Himself say… “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”…? "And did He not say “Judge not lest ye be judged”? One source of information that you may or may not be aware of is the Catholic Catechism which is available on line… and here is a link to it: scborromeo.org/ccc.htm

Please feel free to explore the Catechism… it explains much, including the question you had concerning the Catholic belief that others will be saved…even if not Christian or Catholic…

Also, feel free to ask questions… This site is a tremendous resource for information…from good and knowledgeable people.

God Bless and take care!!

🙂 a hindu standing before Jesus"so you are God i never knew"…😊 an anti-catholic standing before Jesus"your mother is no more important than a empty milk jug",opinions will vary and that is just what they are opinions…so who do you think Jesus will have a smile for?to really know Jesus is to be His bride…
