Anchor Bible is not a bible per [se] but a series of commentaries that go with each individual book- Each book of the bible- is commentated on by different writers. It’s a great series as is Anchor Biblical Dictionary-🙂
It is a completely new translation, so qualifies as a Bible in its own right and also as a commentary, and is excellent as both.

Good News Bible may be great to read but not for studying. NIV is a very flawed version though very readable. Again for Study-not advisable. Why is the TEV not for study? Also how is the NIV flawed?

The NIV had to have incorporated the most biased exegetes in history.

John 3:16 (for example) is used by many non-mainstream Protestants to cite that believing in Christ is all that is required for salvation, and it appears to be the NIV they cite:

NIV
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
KJV (far more accurate)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
There is a massive difference here, ‘should’ indicates probability, and yes it’s true that one should not perish if they believed in Christ, because through faith comes works. The DRB (Catholic), uses the word ‘may’ which is consistent with the KJV as well, whereas it appears the NIV was translated with bias (sola fide).

Shall not is an absolute and guaranteed, whereas should not is probable, and is also the correct rendition of what Holy Scripture says, and also one that makes sense logically.
