What is it in 2 Tim that you find in it that supports the catholic church?
 
I think you should leave the study group if it is up setting you so much. I am a catholic married to a protestant. His parent and most protestants I have meet are very anti cahtolic by up bringing. They will not see and will not hear the truth. Our faith even for devout catholics is sometimes a long and indepth study of our faith that for me will last a life time. I don’t now nor I have I ever cared what people think of me or my faith. My faith will always be with me and always gets deeper and deeper as time goes on. Keep reading and take a catholic bible class. I think that will help you very much.
 
I think you will find that the more you study the Bible, you will discover that all of the books will support the Catholic faith. My first study was a large “interdenominational” study in which Catholics could not be group leaders. There was a subtle anti-Catholic undertone and I felt uncomfortable. I was driven to learn more about my faith through both scripture and tradition in order to dispute some of the teachings in this study. This was a very good opportunity for me, and I am stronger than ever in the faith now. In fact, I am now a small group facilitator of a large bible study in our Catholic Parish. I never saw myself doing this.

Look at this as a calling to discover Truth!
 
in 2 tim 1:6 the laying on of hand for ordaination and recieving Holy Spirit
1:13-14 deposit of faith entrusted to him. this deposit was not a bible but the good news that he heard from Paul
then in 2:2 tim is to entrust this to other men

i dont have a bible here but if you would like more all you need do is respond.
i was just trying to say there were some things in this book that would have been pathways to discuss the catholic faith. but i punked out.
 
I am familiar with those verses. It is difficult to bring up, especially when you feel out numbered. There is also a large emotional factor. I always found more supporting verses later, but as I searched and learned, I have been able to use this knowledge with other people that I come in contact with. There are many great books to reference. Check out the apologetic books in the catalog.

There’s no point in being other than direct in covering off the above.

The Canon of Holy Scripture is complete as the Catholic Church presents it, because she, on her God-given teaching authority, promulgated it. Therefore to assert that anything is “missing” from the Catholic Bible is logically inconsistent, and to be rejected out of hand as a consequence. By definition, it contains what the Catholic Church says it contains, although those separated from the Church may claim otherwise.

As for the assertion on what was given to Queen Victoria, the question arises: Which Jubilee? Also, who presented this perported document? It would not have been the Catholic Church, (Victoria was a very Protestant ruler, the Governor of a Protestant church) so no matter what it contained, it would not be relevent to Catholic teachings.

The above post is so badly thought out that questions arise as to the motives prompting its promulgation.
