What do you think of this?

…I personally find it a little insulting…but  I guess I’m sensitive maybe…I dunno. 🤷

The other day I was in the store, and these guys were talking about a missionary in Rome…one of them even said “Yeah no question if they’re Catholic over there.” and how Catholicism isn’t Christian at all if you really just look at at.

that has been going on for years. This also includes areas with Orthodox populations such as Russia and Greece.

I figured it had. I just don’t really understand why they don’t send them to places like China…or India…somewhere that doesn’t have a large Christian population. 🤷

Most Protestant denominations do send missionaries to places like that… but because they think Catholics are non-Christians, they see majority Catholic countries as mission fields too. 🤷

In all fairness, most of Europe* is *now a mission field for all faiths (including the Catholic Church), as the culture is so thoroughly secular and the rate of religious belief and practice is so stunningly low.

Catholics and Protestants have been trying to convert each other for centuries. I personally am not impressed with their activity, but then I am not impressed with the brands of Protestantism that find the Catholic Church particularly objectionable.

The Protestants who do this sometimes do not consider Catholics to even be Christians.

Unfortunately that is true, I just didn’t think Italy was that bad, I heard it was a country in Europe with a lot of believers still. I do think that people need to be sending missionaries to France <_< I’m French and it really upsets me to see where they are today, but then again it’s a little upsetting in the U.S. too…

Ah, now it is an opportunity for me vent! Many Evangelical churches consider Catholics not to be Christians. So they send missionaries to Catholic countries to spread “the gospel.” The last Protestant church I attended did a short-term missionary trip to Mexico. They even had an ex-Catholic with them to explain to the Catholics that it wasn’t okay to worship saints. In the same church of course a few people would talk about their “Catholic brothers and sisters.”

My “non-denominational” former employer informed me that she knew of few Christians that became Catholics but a lot of Catholics that became Christians. This was right after I informed her that I had become a Catholic. :hmmm: I had tried to explain to her that I believed that the Catholic Church was the original Christian church.:doh2: I guess I didn’t explain it to her very well.

The website of her church has a link to a site for evangelizing Catholics. :sad_yes: I am trying to equip myself when I meet up with her again. 🤷

I love the smilies:D

Thank you! We’re on the same page! Lol.
The smiles are pretty cute. 😃

I have a great friend who is a Protestant Missionary. He considers Catholics “Christians” and would never try to spread the Gospel to Catholics.

But in talking with him it’s clear Protestants see that even though a country is majority Christian, it isn’t ALL Christian so they believe there’s a mission there.
Luke 10:2. “He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

The sad part is not so much that they send the missionaries. After all they have missionaries on street corners right here in the U.S. Here we call them “Street Evangelists”.
The sad part is that they find so many converts in “Catholic” countries.

Peace
James

As long as you have Christ in your heart and spirit its all good,

We take shots at Protestants and they do the same back. We all have a chink in our arsenal to poke fun at…

Wake up! There’s still a place for the Irish Penal Laws in many a 21st century colonial stronghold. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

sounds like they are mistaking the world pilgrimage with the world mission

I hope that no one tells the Apostles they weren’t christian. Wonder who they feel the Apostles followed and taught about if not Christ?

“If you really just look at it” is the moral relevativist’s motto (tongue twister). I think sending Protestant missionaries to a Catholic area is a bit insensitive and some Protestants view missionary activity as a competition. They may be sincere, but still it’s not right.

Don’t have time to find all the links now but you can google this…

bob Tebow’s mission is to evangelize the Phillipines. This country is +/- 80% Catholic yet he says that something like 65% have “never heard the gospel of Jesus Christ”.

Grrrrrr:mad:

Check out his website then check out Phillipines stats.

Sorry can’t provide now, but wanted to mention it.

We should counter-attack and take over Kansas 😛
I think all the Catholics should come to Oklahoma…because it’s kind of rare here. xD Nearly everyone’s Baptist. ._. None of my friends out of school are Catholic(I go to Catholic school)

Plenty of Catholics no little or nothing about the bible. It does not have emphasis relative to tradition.

I actually lived in Oklahoma until last February, had to move away for work ^^ And I agree, there are very few Catholics compared to other religions. I chose Kansas because I believe it has the highest percentage of protestants in the US, I would not be opposed to starting with Oklahoma though 😛
