Hey when I visit my parents 600 miles away and it happens to be over a weekend I’ll go to a Sat vigil and Sunday with them. Otherwise I might be not honoring my father and mother when they ask if I will be coming with them. It a sincere requests and I think yhey want to show their friends that I’m still alive

I once went to the famous Church of the Western Branch of American Reformed Presbo-Lutheranism, and they made a pretty good case for being the one true church founded by Christ. 😉
Ned Flanders is taller in real life.😛

YES!
It is a sin to attend and participate in a different denominational church service. By going you are showing your support to another religion–a religion missing the very essence of your faith–the Eucharist!

You really need to speak to your parish priest about such a matter!

God Bless!

BloodStainedRose- You are plain wrong. Cite your sources for your opinion please.

It is in an Examination of Coinscience.

Why would you want to go to another church anyway, it lacks the one thing that sets the Catholic Church apart from Protestants–The Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
By attending another form of worship you show support for that religion–denying your Catholic faith.

That’s what I figured. And come to think of it, the United Methodists may also include it.

I’ve attended Baptist (Southern), Baptist mega churches, Methodist (united), Methodist (fundy type?), Non-denom, Presbyterian (USA) Presbyterian (PCA) Evanglical Protestant, and Episcopalian…wow…didn’t realize how many different churches that I’ve visited…(want to mention, I did NOT become a member in them all, ha!)
At last someone with a sence of humour on the blogs…i unfortunately could not become a protestant because they all have , or seem to have , different and sometimes conflicting interpretations of almost everything !!!
I know because half my family is protestant and the other catholic ?!
Please become a catholic…we need more humour !!! If you don’t then please stay happy !!!👍 👍

Although i attend my local catholic church , and no other christian church , i find it almost impossible to believe that anyone in this day and age would consider it a sin [mortal or venial ?] to attend a protestant church service !
This is where protestants have a good laugh at us…they don’t seem to suffer from these type of hang-ups.
I won’t join them because there is too much biblical misinterpretation in their ranks , and hence no unity. 😛 😃

BSR- You still have not given me a credible source apart from your own opinion.

Protestants don’t really worship.

They sing a few songs

they listen to a person give a sermon (not worship)

They sing some more songs

the newer protestant churches omit the singing of songs and the people in the “audience” listen to the choir sing songs (usually very entertaining)

I have watched Pastor John Hagee…There is not one moment is his “services” that there is actual worship. He gives lectures in an auditorium and then a musical group sings and entertains then he lectures some more. THAT IS NOT worship…that is lectures with musical entertainment intermissions.

I worry about this man…he is sooo misled by Satan. His church looks very similar to the Newer musical theaters in Branson Missouri.

i explained to my 2nd grader that if they have communion at granma’s church, it is not jesus, it is just bread, and of couse, she can not have it anyway.

me to!
GOod because the protestant version of communion is the “togetherness” approach…Most protestants see communion as a comming together.

A Catholic who believes in the real presence and takes communion at a protestant “service” is commiting the sin of idolatry. We can only worship Jesus …not a hunk of bread and since that is all it is in a protestant church.

It is a Mortal sin to recieve communion in a protestant church.

It is not however a sin to attend a protestant “service”.

With that in mind remember what the word protestant means.
